Christ the Lord by Anne Rice
This book is a few years old, but has anyone else read it?

This is my first Anne Rice book. I don't think I will read her vampire stuff as I'm not really into that, but I'm enjoying this book. I find her take on Jesus' childhood very intriguing and appreciate the historical context she adds that you just don't get a full picture of by reading the Gospels.

Are her vampire books really dark? I've only seen parts of "Interview with a Vampire"...not sure where I am with the whole vampire genre....but I've read some Stephen King (more supernatural stuff than horror). How does it compare?

Perhaps dark wasn't the best choice of words, but you got it anyway. Thanks! I've read enough King to understand about the familiar places, etc. Though his stories may not be connected, they have that underlying similarity because of the location connection. I may give Rice's other books a try when I'm done with her Christ books. Thanks again for the perspective!

<WARNING: THREAD HIJACK>
Stephen King's novels are generally really good. However, there is simply no other author who has kept me quite as thrilled with thier short story collections as he has. I loved (LOVED) reading those. I was excited about The Mist, but the movie lacked something the story had.

I did read Interview with the Vampire, and I recall liking it, but its been awhile. Haven't read any others of hers. My brother and I were big King fans growing up. Read The Talisman several times. Read Cujo in my backyard, and it scared me so bad I had to run into the house and hide.

I'm ok with talking about King. Wink

The first book of his that I read was actually his autobiography. If a guy was every destined to write...it was him!
