RE: Tim Anderson Writes An Open Letter to Ken Smith
If you haven't read it yet, Tim Anderson's post here is really good: http://isupporttinaanderson.blogspot.com...csess.html

Quote:Even after the trial I still come across posts that attack Tina, calling her a liar, manipulator, out for money, and other things. I am deeply hurt by this. People use their opinions or their “insight” to make a judgment call on my wife’s truthfulness or motivations. In past “notes” I’ve expressed our motivations. We have no ulterior motive. Our biggest motivations are to make awareness of abuse in IFB churches and to encourage change in churches to prevent further abuse...

@Jenni, an uncle? I'm so sorry. And how very confusing that must have been. If only evil were always a monster with claws and an evil roar, we could deal with it so easily. But when people hide their monstrosity under friendliness, it becomes harder to identify. And your being a child and having to deal with that? Breaks my heart.

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.

I'm so sorry for your experience, Jenni. I read stories like yours and my heart just cries out for justice. I pray you have found peace and healing.

@PW, you're right. Maybe that's why I like fantasy stories - you can always tell who the bad guys are. And their wrong actions are usually punished.

@ndtk, thank you. I'm working on "peace and healing." I'm hoping to be able to volunteer to help other survivors at some point.

Tim and PW, thank you for your kind words. I wouldn't say this particular memory haunts me or has traumatized me or anything like that. In fact, I just generally didn't think about it too much until this story about Tina came out. Then I had to go back in my mind and revisit the incident as an adult. It definitely helped me see Tina's actions and feelings in a new light. I forgave my assailant a long time ago. In fact, I kind of feel sorry for him. He was only fourteen and he was desperate for sex with an eight year old??? What must his home life have been like? Talk about messed up! But I can't imagine how Tina can ever forgive a grown man who knew exactly what he was doing. Only God's grace will make it possible for her to move on past all this and not be angry or bitter about it, and it seems obvious that God's grace has already fallen on Tina, in abundance.

Jenni, I hope that you, too, have known and will continue to know the Lord's healing and grace in your life.
