Questions were posed to “young fundamentalists” (30 respondents; oldest aged 39).

When asked for the best example of a biblical fundamentalist (and given 16 men listed) the top three choices were Chuck Phelps, Sam Horn, Will Galkin.

As if we needed any further proof that the inmates are running the fundy asylum.

And of course when someone on SI dares to say that Phelps being chosen is "demoralizing" there's the inevitable rush to defend him.

What it MEANS is that you asked a bunch of young fundies who their hero was and they picked a guy who has been shown by his own sworn testimony to be unfit for the ministry. It means that your young people have no moral compass. It means that your movement is corrupt and decaying before your very eyes.

That's what it means.

Let's look at the list below and see how many qualifications of a pastor that Chuck Phelps might still have. Does a pastor need all of them or if he has at least 2 or 3 of them is he still qualified to become or remain a pastor?

His children must be believers who are not wild or rebellious
Not Arrogant - He must be humble, thinking of others first. He has a servant's heart.
Not Quick-Tempered - His anger does not flare up at the least provocation.
A Strong and Steadfast Belief - A conviction in the gospel that does not waver.

I believe your tweeting that earlier was the first time I'd read any thing on SI, and the freaking 3rd comment was "What has Fred Phelps ever done wrong". Apparently Sharper Iron is a euphemism for meeting place for rape apologists....
