RE: Teaching "Standards"
How you treat another person(with kindness, patience,long suffering,gentleness etc) is more important than whether you go to movies or not. That is what should be preached.

Live honestly. Practice the golden rule...help your neighbor. Give youth opportunity to do some good in the community. Go to a homeless shelter, help at soup kitchen, help fix a house. In other words look around you and see if someone has a need and do what you can to fill it...and this is important. Don't use these opportunities as a chance to 'preach' at someone.

All of this talk about wearing jeans or listening to this kind of music or not going to movies etc puts the emphasis on SELF. It can lead to pride if you have the kind of personality that finds it easy to follow rules. It can lead to despair if you aren't that type of person. I can guarantee you that if a person is hungry they are not going to give flying flip what you are wearing or if you like rock music as you dish out the soup.

O Beauty ever ancient, O Beauty ever new;
you, the mirror of my life renewed,
let me find my life in you.~St. Augustine

Even Jehovah's Witnesses give better music advice than the Fundies.
