Highlander is just like The Matrix: they only made one, and it's too bad there weren't any sequels. @Scorpio, I DEFINITELY want my kids to see Jaws!! (Although I'll have to be careful not to schedule it shortly before we go on vacation.)
"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |

If you ask me, just 1 Highlander movie was 1 too many. I finally watched the original a few weeks ago after many years of people telling me how awesome it was.
It was probably one of the worst movies I have seen in 10 years. It was terrible. |

I'll never forget the summer Jaws came out (I believe 1975). After I saw it 3 times, my parents took us on vacation to our Aunt and Uncle who lived along the Long Island shore. My uncle took me sail boating (I was 15) alone, which I loved. But when he started to joke about making sure I knew how to sail back to shore in case he had a heart attack (he was always joking about that, but is still alive today) I was so scared! In fact that whole summer I don't think I enjoyed swimming at all, even in a pool. Flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes. |

We've already shown the kids Ferris Buller's Day Off, Princess Bride, all the Star Wars (though I haven't seen them), most of Top Gun (I don't think they need to see a few scenes), Wizard of Oz and they might have seen Indiana Jones, but once again I've never seen it. Netflix has been great for 80's movies. We also watched Labyrinth, love Jim Henson's work.
We have a great little theater in town that shows cheap movies over the summer. Last summer we got to see Wizard of Oz and Princess Bride on the big screen. This year my kids will hopefully see Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, and maybe Airplane!. They are also showing Clerks, might have to get a sitter for that one. It's a stupid movie, but I love it. Pay attention people! WifeofBill knows of which she speaks - Scorpio

My son is 25. I'd love for him to get into Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, and just about anything from Preston Sturges, like Miracle at Morgan's Creek, movies I fel in love with at that same age.

"Footloose"
There are fundie tropes through out the movie. "There is no worse heresy than the fact that the office sanctifies the holder of it.” -from Lord Acton's Axiom “Yippee ki-yay, Mother Fundamentalist” |

American Graffiti - great nostalgia movie for a time I'm even to young to have known, but themes that are quite common enough to be universal (coming of age, unattainable beauty as a muse, the prospect of maturing; nostalgia when the good guys were regular joes and bad guys were still civil. Maybe this place never existed. But I wish it did.)
