RE: NCIS and NCISLA
I think you're right on the preview for a new thing. A new show or maybe an alternating crew to shake things up a bit, to add new material? Leon Vance is one of my favorite characters on NCIS, so killing off his wife was a shocker. She was a good character as well. Vance now joins the rest of NCIS who have dysfunctional families, something the writers seem intent on doing. Eli David was really being treated well with he and Ziva mending ties so while I knew they were going to kill him off by the trailers it was still a bummer. That episode had so much more wallop and story in it than in this season's opener. Ugh, I did not like that storyline! It was very contrived and the villain lacked the charisma and aptitude to pull of the whole plan. On another note, I wonder when NCIS will finally get back to the storyline of the Iranian ambassador dying in a car bomb?

RE: NCIS and NCISLA
Since the Red team involves being mobile all across the country, I think it will be a new show and will probably come on after NCIS:LA especially if Golden Boy is cancelled. I just hope it did not fall into the trap NCIS:LA did. They changed the whole layout after that back door pilot, and they introduced Hetty and acted as if she had always been there and Macy was gone. Plus they became dsiconected from the NCIS universe with the way they did the last season finale. NCIS has had trouble with season openers. As a side note they have not gotten into Callen's origin story in a while. NCIS always seem to have good finales with cliffhangers, but the next season openers are weak. One of the best openers was when they had to save Ziva after she had left. I didn't think Harper Dering
needed to be charismatic to get what he wanted done. He just used his money. It was not clear to me who killed the Iranian guy. It seemed like it could either be the Iranian government or that Deputy Massad Director who's now on the run. I'm sure the story line will resurface with Ziva going after him for revenge. As far as spinoffs go i would have rather seen a spinoff of CGIS with that Coast Guard Agent Abaigail Bourne rather than see them capitalize on A NCIS franchise like CSI did with it's franchise. |

RE: NCIS and NCISLA
I just wasn't convinced by the actor playing Derrick Harper. Well, NCIS has dodged a bullet with its recent episode (April 30, 2013). If Tony or Ziva had died the fanbase would've been in an uproar! A question I now have, with the season finale the next episode I think, is this: now what? I don't know how long NCIS is going to last. I can't see it lasting two or three more seasons. Nearly everybody seems to have had their chance at revenge and that's been a lot of revenge! Everyone, except for the doofus Palmer, now is dysfunctional in family and relationships. Gibbs can't form romantic attachments and has no family outside his dad, Ziva HAS no family anymore, Tony has a dysfuntcional father, McGee's family is hinted at being dysfunctional (His father was mentioned as distant and while I think he may show up in an episode I think it's going to be too similar to Tony/Tony's dad relationship), Ducky has no more family and I wish they could've given him a granddaughter, Abby has a brother she doesn't really know, and Leon just had his wife killed. So now what?
I wonder the same thing about NCIS:LA. I've noticed how many episodes kept trying to out-do the previous story in hype: Terrorists! Even more terrorists! National Security! Oo! War in the balance! |

RE: NCIS and NCISLA
We hadn't seen NCISLA at all. Don't get it here in England and NCIS is at least a year behind. But we did get to borrow them from the base library. Someone had loaned us season 3 first. Then we got season 1 and are waiting for season 2 to be returned so we can see it. We are really enjoying it. It is different enough from the original (which I do like) that I feel like it's trying be an imitation. I read about Hetty in the above post!!! Arrgh! We won't get that season for who knows how long!

So now what? They'll go back to non-vengeance story arcs for a while? I mean, they've tended to have that cycle before. Numerous killer-of-the-week episodes, then a larger Big Bad story arc followed by a bunch of killer-of-the-week stories. NCIS:LA has always had a focus on terrorism. They have team members with terrorism expertise. Their base being in LA makes that tend to be a focus for the show. It's tended to be either a national security issue or a drug lord issue on a regular basis since the series began, as far as I can recall. Forget the fear/it's just a crutch/that tries to hold you back/and turn your dreams to dust. |

So now what? McGee's father (the Admiral) did show up this season and, yes, his relationship with Tim is rather dysfunctional. (He doesn't understand why Tim went the way he did for schooling, doesn't understand that beneath it all, Tim is a geek.) However, it's hinted that Tim's mother and father are still married and that Tim has a good relationship with his mother. Father has late-stage cancer--there might be some drama coming next season with that. At the end of the episode, it appeared that Tim's relationship with his father might be on the mend, and on Tim's terms. (Tim has a lovably dotty grandmother as well.) I think Abby's relationship with her newly-discovered biological brother might be shown as developing next season, too. There will be issues with Leon raising two kids on his own. And, IMO, the only reason Gibbs can't form romantic attachments is that the fans go up in arms every time the writers try it! They like seeing him as the silver fox/lone wolf. I'd like to see him not be so omniscient for once. Also, I think Breanna Palmer needs to get preggers ... that may cure some of Palmer's doofusness. A steady diet of Hellfire and brimstone will only give you Spiritual gas and indigestion... from Mark Moore as posted on Facebook |
