SURELY your pastor did not suggest that women should wear swimming attire that pertaineth to a man?!?! So in the WATER, I can wear pants that I bought in the men's department, but OUT of the water, I can't even wear pants that I bought in the women's department. Because... modesty is imperative, even if you have to be a cross-dresser.... what?! Help! Mental meltdown in progress! |

All the ladies at my church buy their swimming shorts in the men's department. Because apparently it's fine for a woman to wear clothing made for men (except for pants, though ladies' capris are acceptable), but if a guy wears men's jewelry he would be deemed a feminine cross-dresser and his sexual orientation would be questioned. |

RE: Swimming Modestly
In my first year of teaching, I'd occassionally wear a very large sweater of my husband's. My students informed me that the history teacher (a youth pastor moonlighting as a real teacher
) was telling them that the Bible prohibited even my wearing my husband's sweater.
"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |

RE: Swimming Modestly
I wear a halter-top swim top with board shorts or a bikini top and board shorts, depending on where I am, who I'm with, and if I feel fat that day or not.
Basically I look like everyone else. Which is such a huge relief. I hated swimming in denim shorts past my knees and a huge tee-shirt growing up. No wonder I didn't learn how to swim until I was almost an adult.

I would only object to the sweater if it was a BJU (or any Fundy U), or Indiana Hoosiers sweater. Those things should be fireable offenses regardless of gender. I do find the idea of PW gender bending to be laughable. |

It could be because of mixed bathing restrictions, clothing, whatever. In my case, it was a mother deathly afraid of water. |

YAY!!
BTW, Dagon classifies as a minor diety, right? We had a Bible teacher at Fundy HS, who we all called Dagon. I'm not sure of why, obviously have never forgotten the fish god, due to that, not my OT survey class @ PCC. |

My parents had a three-foot deep swimming pool they put up for several summers in our back yard, nothing special but lots of fun. My mother was very afraid of the water, but I'm glad she never discouraged my love of it. And I really have no idea why I was allowed to wear a relatively normal bathing suit. "Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |
