It would make me think of my son and how I would feel if he were in that degraded lifestyle. And if you think that porno stars do not live degraded lifestyles, what planet are you from? Not saying that no porn actors aren't exploited, but I have a feeling that Walmart is way more exploitative than the porn industry. Not everyone in the sex industry is there because they don't want to be. Respectful or not, shouldn't we deal with people on an individual basis rather than their familial associations? Yes, but sometimes 'what if this was your [something] ' helps change your perspective. Not necessarily because of the importance of familial associations but because it gives you a new connection/understanding/empathy for a person. boymom: What in the thelogical region of eternal punishment is a daddy-daughter ball? amyrose5:No one is in charge around here. RE: Swimming Modestly
Back to the preaching on modesty. Does anyone that is here remember the messages at Bob Jones University by Jim Berg about how students were sinners if students went to the beach over summer break?
Along that line of thinking, I know someone who was shipped for planning a beach vacation while a dorm student for the week after graduation. |

RE: Swimming Modestly
I was a married town student at Bob Jones. One summer we had friends come to visit from our home state which was more than 800 miles away. Our friends had never been to Myrtle Beach. We decided to go. It used to be a rule (it may still be, but I don't know) that if a town student was going to go outside of the Greenville area on vacation, town students were supposed to get permission to do so from the Dean of Men or Dean of Students. The student was supposed to get approval of the school before booking to ensure what we would be doing was okay. (Our friends had 2 children and we had 2 foster children at that time.) Even over the summer. Even if you weren't taking summer classes.
Yeah...well, I never asked them permission to go on vacation, or anywhere else we decided to go. We didn't think it was any of Berg's or creepy Uncle Tony Miller's business where we went on our vacations. |
