RE: Searching for Sanity
@Scorpio, nice to meet you. I also admire your posts on the blog. And the avatar is my daughter... not a fan of self-portraits, but with a kid that cute, why bother?
and I am completely aware of the insanity that exists here, but it's nothing compared to what i've been exposed to for most of my life. Ignorance is not the issue. Willful ignorance is the issue. |

RE: Searching for Sanity
Welcome, kaje. Your daughter's adorable.
I know what you mean about wanting to know the truth and feeling uneasy about things but not really being able to pin down exactly why. I also know about not wanting to hurt your family. It bothers me that my parents think I'm backslidden because I'm not KJV-only and because I listen to CCM. It makes me sad that apparantly what I believe about Jesus doesn't really matter to them. But I am so thankful to realize the beauty and grace and freedom that is the true Gospel. Glad to have you here. "Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |

RE: Searching for Sanity
I just wanted to add that in the few months I've been a reader here and on the blog, I feel as though I've grown more than I have in my entire life. I've learned more about God's love and Jesus' compassion from you all than I ever did at any IFB church I ever attended. Thank you all for that.

It is ironic that a website that fundies would say is nothing but bitter heathens mocking Jesus actually helps so many people that the IFB ever did. Flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes. |

RE: Searching for Sanity
By the way some of us use this forum to try some outlandish ideas on for size.
As we know, it is pretty easy to scandalize our Fundy friends. Now the trick is to try to scandalize this crowd. In the process, I believe God is helping us grow in grace and out of legalism. For every difficult and complicated question there is an answer that is simple, easily understood and wrong." H.L. Mencken |

Oh, absolutely. It takes a while to retrain your brain (I'm still doing it) but IMO, well worth it. Welcome.
