Did Jesus really die?

Did Jesus really die?
Hi there, I am new here. I admit that I am not a fundamentalist. I hope that is ok.

I have been wondering about what appears to be a contradiction.

You believe that Jesus died for your sins. But you also believe that Jesus lives and that you can talk to him anytime, or have a relationship with. Which is it? Did Jesus die or is he alive? Or did he just have a really bad weekend for your sins?

Thanks for reading, I look forward to your responses.

RE: Did Jesus really die?
Revelation 1:18 [I am] he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen.

It's not either/or. It's both/and.

The logical contradiction should be obvious. One cannot be dead if one is alive. It's akin to saying one can be a married bachelor.

Dude seriously. Seriously.

Nobody claims that Jesus is dead. You're making that one up.

It's like saying a person can't be single if they were ever married. Yeah, they can be.... figure it out.

You claimed that Jesus died. Death is death. If one is alive, then they never actually died.

Unless you're God and unless you have thousands of eye-witnesses who saw you die and then saw you walking around alive again.

You are ignoring the obvious logical contradiction. If one is alive, then they cannot have ever died.

heres a definition:

death, n. the permanent ending of vital processes in a cell or tissue

If it's not permanent, it's not death.

Also, where does it say thousands witnessed it? I thought it was a handful of women. Also, how could you be sure they weren't mistaken that he was just unconscious?

RE: Did Jesus really die?
Donb123, Using the Bible to prove the Bible is true is another well known logical fallacy. Called begging the question, or circular reasoning. You should look it up.

Re the troll comment: (pulled from Wikipedia)

Troll: a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

How is asking about Jesus off-topic? I started the topic, about Jesus. I would like logical, well reasoned responses, not emotional ones. Is that too much to ask?

Hang on, the Bible says Jesus died then was not dead.

Then you went on to use the Bible as proof that the above statement is correct.
