I'm not sure was Stein's motivation was in making Expelled. I always thought he was credible, you know, without underlying religious motives.

I believe he's observant Jewish. I don't know if he's a part of a Jewish community that reads Gen1 like Christian literalists. I do know he's politically motivated, and it's kind of a right wing cause celebre to bash all kinds of science, including evolution. Watch R's squirm who don't want to admit they don't believe in a 6 day creation when Chris Matthews asks them sometime...

Quote:Watch R's squirm who don't want to admit they don't believe in a 6 day creation when Chris Matthews asks them sometime... That is a squirmy question. I think they are not sure what they should admit to believing or not believing. It's all about getting votes. |

RE: Young Earth Creationism As the Ultimate Standard
i've posted it before, i'll post it again: READ THIS. i think both views can be reconciled, we just don't know how yet.
i think both sides are coming at this from different angles. and, if i may, i'll share a quote from chesterton regarding the christian tradition we all share: Quote:The Church in its early days went fierce and fast with any war-horse; yet it is utterly unhistoric to say that she merely went mad along one idea, like a vulgar fanaticism. She swerved to left and right, so exactly as to avoid enormous obstacles ... It is always easy to let the age have its head; the difficult thing is to keep one’s own. be fully convinced in your own mind, but don't turn around and make that a test of fellowship or test of salvation. i could care less if someone believes YEC or OEC or theistic evolution or atheistic evolution. just don't push that belief on me. i'm married. it's awesome. |
