What is the ultimate standard?

Certainly it is not a particular biblical interpretation style of Genesis.

I certainly hope that God's universe is larger than seven thousand light years across. The heavens proclaim the glory of God!

I “bolded” a portion of your post. This is the question we should be asking. Obviously, Jesus Christ needs to be our standard for salvation of our souls. I think if we focus on that the rest will fall into place for us. It might be different for you and me, but goodness all the rabbit trails that get created are ridiculous.
