RE: Pray for Berean Members to be Strong & United - and Vote!
This was posted by a former member on another board:
to ActionJaxNews: Suggested future news clips: 1-Interview Berean church members on Sunday as they leave the church services and ask them why they still attend; 2-Interview the staff members (Robbie Stanley, Chris Fox...) and ask how they feel working for GN, knowing that he is guilty of videotaping girls...; 3-Interview the deacons (Bob Hamilton, Tom Wiles...) and ask why they have not insisted on removing GN for voyeurism and TN for maintaining a 10 year cover up; 4-Interview D. Wright and ask if he has a problem with the video since it was made such a long time ago; 5-Get a copy of the video from GK and run the beginning of it so that the world can see GN positioning the video before and after...; 6-Interview parents and teens about TN's recommendation for teens to run away if parents left Berean; 7-Have a news team filming TN getting into his BMW while doing a segment on Berean's bankruptcy; 8-Interview the deacon that resigned over the 'sin list' and ask staff members why they did not resign; 9-Do an investigative report on the AMANDA Foundation / Ranch and follow the money; 10-Do a segment on the thousands of dollars that have been raised for designated projects (electronic sign, $400,000 for a dude ranch in NM, etc.) and try to track down what happened to it as we would all like to know; 11-Interview Debbie Kassner and ask why she is still working for the man who videotaped her sister-in-law; 12-Find out who the rude-dude was on the steps of Berean during the first news clip - the man who refused to identify himself - wasn't that GN's cousin? 13-Interview evangelist John Hamblin and ask him to comment on the idiotic handout that he provided at graduation and if he is still 100% TN; 14-Interview Shelton Smith and ask if he is still having the Sword of the Lord conference in Sept.; 15-Interview the attenders at the west Berean location and ask how they feel now about having merged with Berean and whether they want to withdraw their decision based on deception I am wondering if the Sword of the Lord Conference will go on as planned next month. It would not surprise me if it did, just because those guys are already well immersed in denial. |

RE: Pray for Berean Members to be Strong & United - and Vote!
My family goes to this church. My mom believes every word out of both of those devils' mouths and nothing about these reports will convince her to leave. It makes me so angry I can't see straight sometimes. And I'm not just judging the church based on the video. I have been there 4 times and was disgusted with what was coming from the pulpit.
One of my sisters is about to attend the church college this month too. I want to text her so bad and tell her to be careful where she changes clothes. =P She is just as bad of a kool-aid drinker as my mom. |

That is heartbreaking! Sorry to hear your family is caught up in that cult.

That made me sad to read. How can we pray for you? Family relationships are the hardest. |

RE: Pray for Berean Members to be Strong & United - and Vote!
There's already been some discussion on this in the forums about this story but it's worth making an official post about it here just for the record.
As if we needed more evidence that being the son of a fundy preacher is a blank check to commit whatever kind of perversion that your heart desires, along comes the story of Greg Neal who apparently thinks it's a swell idea to shoot hidden video of women changing their clothes. News4Jax.com reports it this way:
While investigators said the tape does show Neal handling the camera before and after two women are seen undressing "in an area where they had a reasonable expectation of privacy," the state's ability to prosecute a case of video voyeurism expired one year after the offense. "While the evidence of his crimes of voyeurism in 2001 is overwhelming, unfortunately, the Statute of Limitations has expired," Assistant State Attorney James Colaw wrote. "Consequently, there is no way to legally pursue a prosecution for these acts." Detectives said the VHS tape was discovered in 2002 when church employee Brent Bartlett was viewing a group of tapes of basketball games he said was given to him by Neal. The secretly recorded tape was included with the basketball tapes. The report said Bartlett took the tape to Neal's father and the senior pastor of the church, Tom Neal, and he was told "the matter would be dealt with in the appropriate manner." Investigators were told that both Gregory Neal and Tom Neal denied to the victims and to church members that the videotape existed. Both Neals refused several attempts to be interviewed by investigators or provide statements. They continue to be co-pastors of the church.
Well, there you go. Do what any good Hyles-Anderson son of a preacher would do: Get your jollies spying on the women in your church , lie to them about what happened, eventually fire the guy who discovered it and then wait for the statute of limitations to expire. Then just keep on pastoring and pretend like it never happened. Simple as that. Another ministry success story. "It doesn't help to wear a hat on your head if your posterior is exposed." ~ PW "Don't make crazy your normal and then wonder why nobody agrees with you." ~ EC |

RE: Pray for Berean Members to be Strong & United - and Vote!
Just pray that somehow they will see the truth. They won't listen to me or anybody else. They take the typical stance of "the devil is always trying to tear down good churches," and dismiss everything. I do feel like I should try one more time, though, for the sake of my younger siblings. I've never actually directly challenged her myself on what is going on at this church (there's a ton more beside the tape that I've found out about, thanks to the internet), and I'm tired of keeping my mouth shut for the sake of keeping peace.

Your best bet may be to start with their statement and proceed: You: "OK, I agree that the devil is always trying to tear down good churches. What is a good church?" Family: Our church is a good church! Y: Why? F: We see people saved and baptized every week Y: Shouldn't a good church be defined from Scripture? F: <better say yes here> Y: A good church should be doing the purpose God gave for the church, right? F: Yes Y: And the purpose of a church is what? F: To fulfill the Great Commission Y: And the church is doing that? F: Yes, we have people saved and baptized every week Y: But that is not the Great Commission; there is a third part. How many of those saved & baptized are continuing to attend the church and are being taught Christ's commands? F: Well... there's X, from two years ago.... oh, and Y last year.... uh..... Y: The Bible example is that people got saved, got baptized, and continued in the Apostle's doctrine. If your church is seeing 500/year saved, and only 1 or 2 continue, then there is a problem, based on the Bible, wouldn't you agree? ... and an interesting discussion then continues.... __________________________ ... what does the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? |
