RE: Fundy Argument Memories
Mine was recent enough. Most of you who have been around saw the gunfight at the "Open Door/ Closed Door" post that had spilled over from "Scientific Proof."
I almost left SFL because of the uber-fundy infestation of "the one." (see "Cognative Dissonance" for my departure) After about a week or so I settled it in my mind, I was tired of running from the fundies, I was going to make a stand even if our Benevolent Dictator kicked me out as well. (I'm thankful he didn't) It wasn't pretty but I was so tired of people I liked on here being attacked. I leave it up to the SFL community to judge the outcome. He left, and that was good. lowercase dave is from the same mold I think. Greg's "smarter than you" attitude was nearly as maddening, but he seems to have gotten bored and wandered off.

RE: Fundy Argument Memories
I didn't think Greg was "one of them". Or "lowercase dave". Maybe I'm not as ex fundy as I think

RE: Fundy Argument Memories
I hated arguing with anyone because I could never defend myself very well. I just knew that if these uninformed people would only hear the speaker/watch the DVD/go to the seminar that I did, then they would know I was right.

Quote:I leave it up to the SFL community to judge the outcome. Your staying meant a lot to me. Fundies don't live with the aftermath. They instigate, argue and leave because they don't care about the relationship. I didn't think of the situation in "winners vs. losers" or "ex-fundies vs. fundies". I think of it as "people who care to hang around and live with differences vs. those who leave because the lack of fighting makes them bored". I'm glad you didn't leave.

RE: Fundy Argument Memories
This happened when I was in high school... I was eating lunch with a couple IFBx people who were friends at the time and had my NIV Bible with me in my backpack. I brought it out because I wanted to look up a verse. When my so called "friends" saw what version I had, they started making fun of it so much and calling it they "Non-Inspired Version". They were very unkind about it, and I felt like they were, in essence, mocking me too. They made me feel so horrible about my NIV that I was reduced to tears. Not once did they ever apologize. In fact, they made me feel so ashamed of myself that I begged my mom for a KJV, which she got for me (I didn't tell her why) the next day.

RE: Fundy Argument Memories
I've gone round and round about pants on women with some ladies who wear pajama pants but believe that wearing "pants" is an abomination. I say, "BUT YOU'RE WEARING PANTS!!!" Kinda like Elaine on Seinfeld to George who didn't like dating a bald woman - "YOU'RE BALD!!!"
The only conclusion I can reach is that it is about appearances. No one can see wear pants in public but I'll wear them to bed. No one can see me going to a movie but I'll rent the DVD.

As a former rabid mad-dog KJV-onlier, and a kool-aid swilling IFB cult member I would like to apologize for their rude and unChristian behavior. Reading that hurt me and I just needed to apologize to someone for my past rudeness so will you be my proxy apology recipient?
