Oh, I dare some freakin idiot deacon to break my iPad over my head.

The words "big fat lawsuit" come to mind...

Helloooo lawsuit for destruction of personal property.

Oh, I'd break his arms and claim self defense.

RE: $#!7 My IFB Pastor Says....
A teenage boy was texting on Wed night during the service and one of the ushers walked up to him and grabbed the phone. Of course, the kid wouldn't let go, and after a tug-of-war, the kid shoved the usher backwards into the wall. Can't say I blame him. The kid probably shouldn't have been texting in church, but the usher IMO was out of line.

I certainly don't blame that kid.. if someone tried to take something of mine away, you can bet I'd hold onto it (with a bit of shouting included). Hope he didn't get into trouble..

I've always wanted to see someone hold onto his device and make a big deal about it. It's a new generation in a new culture. Adapting to modern way of life won't kill anybody, except maybe fundies.
I would do the same thing as this kid in the situation.

Whatever happened to having a word with him, "Young man, you need to put that away while you are in church." ?

But that might imply gentleness or kindness and we don't want any of that new age fruit of the spirit wishy washy stuff here in Fundyville.

Yikes...

I've texted in church. There were a few times when there were long distance issues with family--emergency/serious health related things. I happened to receive info during church and wasn't about to just leave it for another hour. I acknowledged the info and then I was done. No harm. No foul...no disrupting anyone in the outburst between the teen and usher.

The way it always was, is no longer good enough. You make me want to be brave. - Nichole Nordeman
