My church (Assemblies of God) has always been anti-liquor, mainly because of the health risks and the side effects it causes in so many cases. We know it has just as much health risks as tobacco, so why not stay away from it? I am starting to believe there is a certain amount of "rebellion". Please enlighten me. By the way if for no other reason the stuff tastes like disinfectant. The answer is 'why not' liquor. You list only 2 nots. The church and health risks. The first no longer applies to ex-fundies. The second is only risks that can be kept to a minimum by avoiding worst case drinking scenarios. As others have noted, the health risks noted by anti-liquor campaigners are typically hyped up and only apply to worst case scenarios. DISCLAIMER: I am not a medical expert or risk analyst. God has been faithful and loving me for over 18000 days. I think that He will be faithful and loving to me today. |
