The "Even if it wasn't a sin you shouldn't drink it anyway because it's bad for your health" argument irks me to no end. It's bogus and there's a lot of worse things that Fundies eat/do.

I took a semester of nutrition. It was horrifying to learn all the things that can happen with vitamin deficiencies, high cholesterol levels, and sugar addictions. At Fundy church I saw people who constantly had these symptoms, who did nothing about them, and blamed it on "God's will for their lives."

Lizzy! You hit the nail on the head! Preach against "Demon Rum" all the while you can't pull closer than 1 and 1/2 meters to the table in the Fellowship hall. Preach aginst drinking as you blow out the back of your stretch pants while standing behind the pulpit because of all the "fellowship" you gorged yourself with downstairs. Geez, not to mention the gas and body odor! A walking greenhouse emissions producer and HE's worrying about a beer?
