Music Area
Anyone else want a section to talk about music, bands, specials in church that meant a lot, etc...? For me, music speaks louder than words about who we are. Or is that straying too far from the fundie nature of the forum? Thoughts?

RE: Music Area
There have been several music threads. I agree that it would make a good section. I love listening to and talking about music.
No sir. We call that Mr. Coffee. |

I would vote for that, if it were to be an option.

RE: Music Area
I love music too, although admittedly my repertoire (thanks to an entire lifetime in the IFB) is rather narrow. But ask me about Baptist hymns and I've got it!!!!! haha

RE: Music Area
I remember being shocked at a fellow BJU student listening to Glad in her car. It was acapella, but I think we all knew it wouldn't check. I was shocked (because I was very, very sheltered), but I LIKED that music! And I didn't think it was sinful.

It's always interesting to hear peoples stories about how their eyes (or ears) were opened to a larger musical world Relient K was my introduction to rock. Before them all I knew was what the sermons said and oldies (which I still hate) playing in shopping centers. Matt Theeson's voice was like a siren call to a richer musical life.

RE: Music Area
We had a very little church and my Christan school had about 11 kids, all younger than I. I went to a small public high school and was a good enough fundy to realize that I had to come out from among them and be separate. I really didn't know of other music. Whenever evangelists started naming rock groups, I'd never heard of any of them. Petra? Who was that?
My intro to CCM was the Steve Green tape my boyfriend at BJU (who became my husband) gave me. My intro to "rock music" was the Journey and Air Supply songs he put on a tape for me as well as Richard Marxx's "Waiting for You." Yes, I've just totally dated myself!
