Favorite Writers
Who are some of your favorite writers? And by favorite, I mean those who have had the most profound influence on you and your decision to leave (or, perhaps, stay in) Fundamentalism?
Mine, in the order I came to them (plus a few specific works important to me), are: Dante Alighieri -- The Divine Comedy, La Vita Nuova C.S. Lewis -- The Great Divorce, Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, The Four Loves Peter Kreeft -- Socrates Meets Jesus, The Best Things in Life, The Unaborted Socrates G.K. Chesterton -- Orthodoxy, The Everlasting Man, Heretics, What's Wrong With the World The human mind can understand truth only by thinking. --St. Thomas Aquinas |

Andy Stanley The Best Question Ever, The Next Generation Leader. (oddly enough, these books were recommended by a fundy youth pastor)
Francis Chan - Crazy Love Jim Cymbala - Fresh Wind-Fresh Fire, Fresh Power Mark Driscoll - Religion Saves, Vintage Church, Doctrine Rick Warren - Purpose Driven Church, Purpose Driven Life Dan Kimball - They Like Jesus but Not the Church I just got Orthodoxy by G.K. Chesterton on my Kindle, good read so far. Some of these books are not intensely Theological, but they opened my eyes to the reality that non-IFB's were (better) Christians too. Colossians 2:16-23 |
