Hammond DMCA Claim Update
Just an update on the FBC Hammond's attempt to remove all traces of Jack Schaap's crazy sermons from the Internet. Their efforts are still continuing today since they have decided to launch another claim against the video I had hosted on yet another site.

I've received a copy of the original DMCA takedown notification for the copy at Vimeo.com which I'm reposting here (PDF) for general information.

As of this moment I have submitted a counter-claim since I believe the copy of the video I posted falls under fair use for the purposes of commentary and discussion.

The ball is now in Hammond's court. They have 10 days to notify Vimeo.com that they are suing me or let the matter drop.

I'll try to keep you all posted on any further developments...

Lying to video hosting sites maybe isn't sin as long as you are doing it for the ministry? Smile

So much for the whole not-bringing-a-lawsuit-against-a-brother/sister-in-Christ thing. Dodgy

They probably don't consider Darrell a brother.

Darrell, have you considered sending this in to Chilling Effects? They like to keep an eye on the types of DMCA takedowns and where they are coming from. A touch more sunlight on the dark doings of Schaap.

I love the fact that at the bottom of the notification sent to Darrell they list Proverbs 16:3. Even in their legal actions thay are holier than the rest of us.

Maybe if the actually followed that verse none of this would be happening.

RE: Hammond DMCA Claim Update
Someone has pointed me to Hammond's Terms of Use page to suggest that their DMCA claims may be legitimate.

Fair use is a copyright law and it doesn't matter how much they don't like it, they can't do a thing about it.

Their next big move would have to be to launch a lawsuit and then hope I back down rather than spend the time and money to fight them.

And as you might imagine, the task of taking on a multi-million dollar corporation with a huge budget for legal wars would be a wee bit daunting even if the cause is just.
