A Negative Review of "The Avengers"
I like to read movie reviews on http://www.christiananswers.net

Other people are encouraged to write their own reviews to movies. One person wrote this negative review of The Avengers:

Quote:Negative—I would never let my family see such a demonic movie as this!!! The violence and witchcraft is appalling. We as Followers of the Cross are NEVER to bow down to anyone but Jesus Christ, the Great I AM. Please read 1 Cor. 6:7-11 and Galatians 5:19-23. Witchcraft and Idolatry were what brought down the ancient Hebrews. May the Great I AM forgive anyone who sees this film. This movie will bring many “Christians” down the Broad Road of Destruction!!! The evil language in this film is just as disturbing. Think about it for a minute, is not The Hulk thing just a demonic monster?? Do not be deceived, the Great I AM is not to be mocked!! We are to be careful of what “entertains” us.

Also, understand that the villain Loki is a god of joking. Thus, when you see this movie, the Enemy of all of us is laughing at those he is bringing to destruction by seeing this filth!! Please Brothers and Sisters of the Cross, watch something else or just stay home!!! …We as Followers of the Cross must guard our hearts and keep them pure. Jesus Christ wants our hearts and if our hearts are polluted how can he have our hearts or even see it if we watch such filth?
My Ratings: Moral rating: Extremely Offensive / Moviemaking quality:
—Christopher West, age 43 (USA)

Just thought you guys might enjoy reading that!

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.

RE: A Negative Review of "The Avengers"
How does this guy get a free pass to go watch this movie before anyone else. Does he have special dispensions or powers from the effects of this evil movie?
If he is that afraid of cartoon characters and some possibly inappropriate language maybe he should just stay home. With the curtains drawn. And the phone off the hook. And the internet unplugged. Never know where something might lead you down the broad road of desctruction.

And pw, I'm not sure "enjoy" is the right word. Tongue

Scorps, that wasn't the 'paid' review. The actual review was pretty positive as were most of the amateur ones. Only a couple of amateur reviews were negative, including the one PW listed here.

RE: A Negative Review of "The Avengers"
These people never let slip any excuse to tell the world of our extreme wickedness....even though most of us who have seen the movie walked out of the theater and back into our normal lives without even coming close to the 'road of broad destruction'- whatever that is.

you, the mirror of my life renewed,
let me find my life in you.~St. Augustine

Right. My comment was poorly worded. I didn't mean he got "paid" or a free pass to watch the movie. I meant to say something like how come he gets to see the movies first and then warn everyone else how evil it is. Kind of a "do as I say, not as I do". Does that make sense?

I wonder if the writer DID watch it. Sometimes people write warnings about a movie based only on hearsay or trailers without actually seeing it.

I was wondering that too. His reasoning is a bit off concerning what is actually in the movie. His statement about Loki is especially baffling.

His review isn't the only weirdly negative one. This guy also (a young man from South Africa, apparently) has moral objections:

Quote: I cannot believe this movie got a better than average. Loki is a clear depiction of the devil, and in everything he says takes a punch at the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. In this movie, he is depicted with two horns, and like the author of the review said, says very offendable stuff. The risk, in my humble opinion, is that this paves the way for the devil to be portrayed as a fictional individual, or, if one believes that he exists, a individual that we as mortals can only be saved from by a team of superheroes. Yes, the movie is fictional, but it draws from Biblical truths, which are warped slightly to desensitize Christians. I shall pray for the cast and production members.

Honestly, it's astonishing how stupid this man assumes that moviegoers are: stupid enough to confuse what is clearly fiction with reality. At this rate, we'd better just watch the Jesus film; even Pilgrim's Progress is suspect, because people might think that we have to kneel down at a literal wooden cross to be saved.

All shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Oh no, you did NOT just shit all over The Avengers, Mr. Christopher West, age 43! Imma take your review and smash it like Hulk did to Loki. (Who else died during that part? I was laughing so hard, I was crying.)

We all have our own inner angry natives and our minds invent a million ways to avoid confronting them directly. But if you just look them in the eye and ask them why they're chasing you with spears you just might learn something about yourself.
