What the hell? Isn't this massively illegal??
I was never really sure but couldn't DARE question the FU's policies or I'd have been next. Confused

RE: subversive acts
This thread just reminds me of the kind of effed up control freaks run Fundy schools. When I first came to Minnesota, thre was a big storm brewing about Pillsbury Baptist Bible College. It eventually killed the college. Somewhere in the 90's a professor started teaching the students Christian Liberty from a pretty balanced position. The president was on board and they started loosening rules. Lots of them. The problem is that in the State of Minnesota, the college is legally owned by the Minnesota Baptist Association. And the Board of Directors is the pastors of the MBA churches. The Pastors started getting wind of it and came on campus to put an end to it. They demanded that all the old rules be reinstated. The president fell in line, but the professors ended up leaving. And so did 3/4 of the students. The guy who took over as pres., Jerry Carlson (A personal friend) ended up having a nervous breakdown and only lasted a year. The school went from about 800 to 150 students. They stayed there for about 7 years and went bankrupt in 2007 I think.

I'm pretty sure the best place to ship this load of carp is the Arctic...so the polar bears can attack it...

Pillsbury closed in December of 2008, actually. We were starting to get back on our feet with a new president when the recession broke out and wiped out everything. There were some problems that really affected those seven years but the economy was the blow that ended it all. Those years you're referring to were chaotic to say the least, from what I've gathered ( I think the period was 1990-ish -1994) It ended in 1995-ish and stayed that way till the last few years.

RE: subversive acts
This wasn't a bend of the rules, but I gave a pro decriminalization of marijuana speech in speech class as my persuasion speech. There was a lot of jaw dropping. I must have done well because one of the students asked the teacher if I actually believed my presentation. I got a good grade for the speech.

God has been faithful and loving me for over 18000 days. I think that He will be faithful and loving to me today.

I lived in a boys' dorm at BJU. I'm female.

No, really! I did!

RE: subversive acts
Were you a faculty kid who lived in one of those ground floor apartments that they had in some of the dorms?

Do they still have those there?

you, the mirror of my life renewed,
let me find my life in you.~St. Augustine
