RE: $#!7 My IFB Pastor Says....
It may be rude, but it's not like it's illegal to text in church, and unless the dude was being disruptive, the ushers had NO business saying ANYTHING period.
"Funny, you're the broken one, but I'm the only one who needed saving." |

RE: $#!7 My IFB Pastor Says....
I got a doozy here. It's about inviting sin in our lives. How did Adam and Eve invite sin in their lives? Side note: 99% of what I've written down below is verbatim.
"The first attack in society was on the home (Adam and Eve)." "Some qualities that caused them to come to a point that they invited sin and destruction into their lives." - God gave a prohibition - All tree species come from 10 trees, and God only wanted 1 - Vote for me as president, and I'll do this: have less taxes than what you give God - 'That tree belongs to me! DON'T TOUCH IT!' <- Wrong. Gen. 2:17 says don't EAT it. The serpent said don't touch it. 1. They did not embrace prohibition. - Do you want to know how to destroy your life? Have everything as license and freedom. If I want to do it, do it. - God has rules. You jump off a building, you will fall down. There are prohibitions! - You put your hand in a fire, it will burn and hurt. There are laws of nature. - God gave us 10 laws to govern a nation. God gave 10 basic rules. We don't need DC passing laws every day. We ought to get back to the 10 Commandments that they pull down in the schools and courthouses. God says there's rules! - My (the preacher's) family had a rule when children were growing up: kids couldn't come home from school and say anything negative about school - Most people think their lives are governed by liberties and governed by their own privileges, and 'I don't want any rules.' - Judges 17:6 says, 'Every man did that which was right in their own eyes.' - And we're reaping the consequences of no prohibition. There ought to be some rules! - God says you're not even supposed to look on wine. - God made rules! Rules are not to hurt us, they're to help us. They're to keep us safe. There are rules of the highway. You ought not to be going down I-5 at 150 mph. There are rules in life. - I'm never going to have a business lunch with a woman who's not my wife. - There has to be some rules. - Some of you men are texting women you have no business texting. Some of you women are texting men you have no business texting. 2. They embraced independence. (3:1) - Satan found Eve alone. - Adam should have been there; he was to be her protector. - Rant on married couples taking separate vacations. Married women taking vacations with other married women, for example. - Independence destroys love. - My cell phone gets read by someone in this ministry every month. I don't want to have a cell phone that's not supervised. If I knew how to use a computer, I would want someone to supervise my activity. We have, in this church, this ministry, a zero tolerance policy. Just like the military. You mess up one time, and you've lost your job. - I don't want to be independent! 3. They embraced what they wanted for themselves. - They ended up hiding themselves. - What are you hiding? - They were afraid. - They started to blame. - Then there was judgment. - Adam and Eve chose to do wrong. *Altar call* "Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." |

*epic facepalm* So much wrong with that sermon I don't even know where to begin.
"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff." ~Doctor Who |

God has called us to liberty (Gal. 5:13). Rejoicing and experiencing our liberty doesn't mean that we want NO rules. Quote:- God says you're not even supposed to look on wine. And in Deut. God says to use the tithe to buy strong drink. These preachers need to use Scripture in context and not just pull out a Biblical phrase to use as a prooftext to support their personal opinions. Quote: - Rant on married couples taking separate vacations. Married women taking vacations with other married women, for example. I wonder what poor person the pastor knows inspired this part of the sermon! "Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |

RE: $#!7 My IFB Pastor Says....
Three statements that my IFB pastor has expressed a few times in the past couple weeks:
"Rebels always go to the place of least resistance." i.e. you'll go to someone who will nurture/tolerate your sin/rebellion. "Independence always destroys love." "You can never succeed with compromise or toleration." Fundy preachers seem to like absolutes. "Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." |

RE: $#!7 My IFB Pastor Says....
From Sunday's sermon: "I see people quitting the choir. They're quitting on God. I see people quitting the nursery. They're quitting on God. I see people quitting the Sunday night service. They're quitting on God. When are you going to quit on God?" Well, apparently on June 3, which is my last day at that church

RE: $#!7 My IFB Pastor Says....
I was writing something to my hubby in church one time and the pastor made mention of people passing notes in church just minute or so after I did this.
Thing is...I can't whisper to my hubby b/c he's hearing impaired and can't hear whispers. |
