RE: Northland's Exciting Announcement
OMG half an hour? No.
It seems like they're going off of a online college commercial that I saw which apologized to students for the way colleges are run, or something along those lines.

RE: Northland's Exciting Announcement
Hmm, a Cultural Leadership major, whose purpose is to "skillfully train graduates in a variety of areas...
CHRISTIAN worldview CHRISTIAN apologetics Leadership Communications Rhetoric Critical Thinking and Logic in order to launch you into a multitude of culturally leading professions." Am I the only one a little troubled by this "culturally" sensitive major that looks no different than, say, a CHRISTIAN Leadership major? I mean, I'm sure there are other classes built into the degree that will include some instruction on cultural diversity, but if that's the case, why headline the upcoming degree program with a list like this? *facepalm* Ignore the haters. They are not your audience. |

To them, "critical thinking" actually means "thinking like a fundamentalist Christian" (which is, of course, not thinking much at all, but they don't know that), and "cultural sensitivity" means "not bashing people over the head but still witnessing to them". So to them, this is a culturally-sensitive major. *Sigh. All shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well. |

Or they could just offer real majors like accounting, nursing, sciences, education, etc. that are practical. I know they have some of those, but why the bullcrap majors like this one?
When I was in college, I tried some kool-aid, but I didn't like it, and I didn't swallow. |

RE: Northland's Exciting Announcement
Mohler already tried this at SBTS but cut all those programs during the financial crisis.
I'm sure Northland will do much better. |

RE: Northland's Exciting Announcement
I have my El Ed degree from there. The Elementary Ed professor was GREAT, so inspite of the fact that Northland wasn't accredited when I attended, I felt very prepared to teach.
Currently they have listed online: Biblical Studies, Cross Cultural Studies, Elementary Education, English, History, Mathematics, Music & Speech Communication. |
