World's Finest Chocolates
Anybody else forced to sell candy bars for no apparent reason?

I did in more than one school....that got old quick because you could never sell enough to get the cool prizes. Faced with making a penny for every bar sold or those flippin' prizes, I'd rather have gone for a paltry sum of cash. As it was, it was better than selling spices or calendars, two other products I hawked as a kid, because people love candy and they are sure to buy when you knock on their door. The only problem was my retard schools were still getting involved when I was in high school, and nobody wants to buy something off a teenager.

Yep. We bought more of them in our house than we sold to anyone else.

They sell retail during the holidays at Walgreens.

Oh, I hated selling stuff! Our Civil Air Patrol raises funds by working at festivals—directing traffic in the parking area, picking up trash, etc.—we provide "volunteers" and the organizers make a "donation" to the squadron. It looks like we may be losing our biggest fundraiser this year. I told the commander if they decide to sell something, tell me how much money I'm expected to raise, and I'll write a check. I refuse to sell stuff.

Our public school sold them in the library. I loved the library. Newspaper and a couple of worlds finest. Probably was partially responsible for the fact that I was a round little kid. Smile

I had to sell them when I went to fundy school in the ninth and tenth grade. I remember walking the streets of my neighborhood selling them. Oddly enough, they took the chocolate better than the gospel tracts Big Grin

RE: World's Finest Chocolates
I had to sell them at the first Fundy school I went to, in 6th grade. That school closed halfway through the school year, and we were left with a lot of unsold chocolate at our house (There were four of us that went to the school, out of maybe 20 students). Haven't seen it since then.

I can find them in a display at my local BiLo store. Don't know if they fundraise for anyone or not.
