I Just found this website after hearing about the tedd butler case in Walker. I'm from holland and i used to be involved in an ifb church here. Sometimes, when im bored, ill listen to the podcast my old church puts out for a good laugh. I was completely disgusted when my old pastor brought up the butler case and proceeded to defend a self-admitted pedophile. He vouched for the guy's moral integrity, explained away his guilty plea with the excuse that to have done otherwise would have ruined his family (as if that wasnt already thoroughly accomplished), and then gave the usual self-pitying bullshit about media persecution and so forth. He said he was going to bring people to the trial and "pack out" the courthouse, as if that would affect decision (these people arent exactly einsteins, obviously). Anyway, i'm wondering if anyone here is from the area and familiar with lighthouse baptist church, b.w. Spencer (my old pastor), or any of the other churches in the area. I used to attend the "ski-tacular" events at grace baptist in gaylord if anyone's familar with that. I Was active in LBC from 1999-2007, was homeschooled in the ACE curriculum by my psycho parents for my entire education (i.e. I didnt have an education), and also attended PCC for one (horrorific) semester in 07. Needless to say im dealing with a lot of issues from all that and thought this might be an interesting way to hash it out. Reading these posts has really made me realize for the first time how much of a cult i grew up in (all seemed so normal at the time).

Im proudly atheist now, i hope thats not a problem... Most of the posts ive read seem to indicate that people have fled to slightly more liberal denominations.

And, that isn't a problem as far as I am concerned!

Glad you are here. This is a pretty safe place to vent, share ideas, and to learn. Oh yeah, there is some general foolishness too but it's almost all in fun!!

Scrolldown to the pocast titled "election day", dated 1/15/12 (or close to that). The website is extremely primitive, im on my iphone and managed to get the audio to play but theres no "trace" functionality so you have to listen all the way thru. About five minutes in i think. Lmk if it works
