I can't believe that I was one of those folks who used to blabber all those verses out when folks would try to have intelligent conversations with me on non-fundy subjects. Undecided It was all I knew and I learned from the best of the fundies out there. Now I look back and just shake my head in shame. If only I could do things over again.

Me too. I had some conversations with some interesting people that I made a complete ass of myself in back in the day. I was bold, but stupid.

RE: Dominate the Conversation
I was talking about this with my wife the other day and remembering how often when out soulwinning the very folks I was trying to witness to would try to tell me how erroneous my beliefs were. I just never saw it. Instead we would end up arguing or just writing their points off alltogether. Undecided

Some folks tried to pull me out of the brainwashing...but I just had to see it myself before I would listen.

Or you get people like my former co-workers who would get extremely upset with me for not believing as they did and spend hours arguing with me about the nature of god and on and on and on. My main thoughtstopper back then was this:

"So I'm going to hell then?"

They would jump through hoops trying to convince me that I was such a good and smart person that of course I would "see the light" and become a Christian. Or that I would convert on my death bed. Or that I would have a near-death experience that would change me. My religious friends were all over me when I recovered from that near-death experience fully expecting me to have faith in Christianity all of a sudden. Sometimes, I wonder if a lot of this badgering is because they don't want to believe that people they think are good are going to hell?

So what is your opinion? Of the afterlife? Do you think you are going to hell? Or maybe there is reincarnation?

Don't know and don't care. Too busy living with what I already have.

So why are you on a site that is primarily people who are somehow formerly Fundamentalist? And why do you care to come here if you don't care?

Call me crazy but I like to expand my worldview.

RE: Dominate the Conversation
And what is interesting is that the Bible puts a lot of emphasis on holding the tongue. Slow to speak, slow to wrath, etc. Even goes as far to say that if a man can't bridle his tongue, his religion is in vain/empty.

But, what's the Bible have anything to do with proper fundy behavior? Tongue

I believe she was saying that she doesn't care about the afterlife. Hence, the statement that she is busy living the life she has. And, not trying to be mean, but I think lots of people are wondering why you're here.

^ yeah. i don't see how coming here has anything to do with one's beliefs on the afterlife.
