Alright, to all the people wondering about Bunnel's wife, I never saw her.

I do know (from the FFF, an unreliable source) that his son was shaken up by his father's infidelity or infidelities. I hope his wife dropped him like a hot rock.

The thing that really matters in all this is that the members of the church were shaken to their cores by what happened. Some of them dropped out of church, others went to the guy on Troy street. Now, I'm not a fundamentalist or even a church attendee, but I feel for the people who had the rug pulled out from under them....this clown ruined a church that had been around since the early 1970s. People lived their entire lives in that church and Bozo Bunnel destroyed their community AND WAS ALLOWED TO PREACH AGAIN, even though it is against the rules in IFB churches. That's crazy.

I think that what did she look like thing was a joke, because in another thread, a douche said that he couldn't understand an affair cause the wife is hot.

Elijah Craig is a smartass, and I read that just like that.

It makes absolutely no difference what she looks like. If he had an affair, it was wrong.

OMG!!! I went to the college that Preston Bunnell started in San Diego!!!!! I've been wondering if anyone else has come in contact with that man and his nut job of a wife! Superbly insane those people are!!!

The thing is, Bob M, we had this exact same argument over a different affair with a different poster right before you arrived, quite recently. The original poster said something about the affair being unjustified because the man's wife was hot. He was jumped on by numerous posters for that exact reason; that it doesn't matter how attractive a woman is, both partners of a marriage have a right to be respected, and a responsibility to be faithful.

I think that when Elijah Craig made that statement, he was giving a joking nod to what that other poster had said. He doesn't actually agree with it at all, he was reminding us of a discussion that had taken place right before you got here. Without context it does look like he was a smart ass - with context he's reminding us that some people are smart asses about all this, especially within the IFB (where women are often blamed for a man's infidelity).

Thanks for the explanation. I have heard too many IFBers explain away their infidelity. Instead of taking responsibility and admitting they sinned.

A woman should never be blamed for a man's infidelity. Now, if she cheats on her own husband, she is to be blamed for that. But the man cannot hide behind "She tempted me." BS

I concur. The man who posted those is very reliable. He may be a sort of fundy, but he is not a wacko. And he is honest.
