Religion's Cell:Doctrines of the Church that lead to Bondage and Abuse
I didn't think to post about my mother's new book she just finished about our exit from the IFB but here it is:
Religion's Cell ![]() I've watched her labor intensively over this the past couple years probably and I'm so excited she finally got it finished! Go mom! ![]() Here's the excerpt: Religion's Cell by Cynthia McClaskey is a masterful exploration of the ways in which organized religion has, through the centuries, systematically denied woman her proper role in the church and the world. Beginning with a firsthand account of her own subjugation within a fundamentalist sect, McClaskey moves forward with detailed and extensively referenced explanations of the God-intended role of woman. Along the way, she provides explanations of how man, in seeking to retain power and authority in both religion and the world, has relegated woman to a subservient position in both areas, in violation of God's intended plan. McClaskey's evidence is compelling and her logic flawless as she argues against the God-as-stern-judge mentality that permeates most modern religious sects and emphasizes the true nature of God as a loving father -a father who wants only the best for both genders of His crowning creation. She points out that Christ surrounded himself with women and that women played major roles in the early years of Christianity, providing copious scriptural support for her position. In Religion's Cell, McClaskey has issued a clarion call for true gender equality, both inside and outside organized religion. This is a book women will want to read and men should be required to read. Fundamentalism no longer has a hold on me - I'm free! ![]()

RE: Religion's Cell:Doctrines of the Church that lead to Bondage and Abuse
I guess I could also include this part as well:
About the Author Cynthia McClaskey is a fundamentalist cult survivor that has taken the initiative to fight back against the religious dogmas of a church system that degrades and suppresses women not only in the church, but in the home. She has spent the last 10 years of her life in biblical and historical studies to search out the truth. She has spent countless hours researching church history, biblical literacy and doctrinal history in order to expose the lies and corruption of a church system that has fostered abuse toward women and children throughout the ages. Your mom's a pretty cool guy.
We all have our own inner angry natives and our minds invent a million ways to avoid confronting them directly. But if you just look them in the eye and ask them why they're chasing you with spears you just might learn something about yourself. |

Look's good. I'm not going to read it at this point in time, cause I suspect your mother's right on the money, and it would set me off big time
![]() Just a point - the only review on the amazon website is by someone with 'mcclaskey' in their username. Doesn't look so good. Anyway, I hope the book gets a lot of readership. I posted a link on my fb profile. Our love is the digital transfer of information ![]()

There's only one review, and it looks like the author or a loyal family member wrote it. That straight away makes the review itself look suspicious, and the book look tacky (because it needs the author/family member to write a review of it). Maybe give a couple of copies to some friends or people who have left fundamentalism and ask them to review it honestly for you in return? I hope she does well. And I know you didn't mean anything by it, but can you understand that it looks to people who don't know you as though you're biased? Our love is the digital transfer of information ![]()
