RE: How loud should the church music be?
Can you imagine Darrell, in the middle of moving, stress from a new baby and a four year old, issues with his job, getting a PM from me: "ExOBCstudent has more stars than I do."
![]() We were jamming a little in between rehearsing during band practice last night, and the key the electric guitar was in would have worked GREAT for "And Can It Be." I'm still working on trying to have a better balance of hymns with praise songs in our church. We have lots of people involved in the music who were not raised on hymns and thus 1) don't know them and 2) don't have any connection with them. "Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |

RE: How loud should the church music be?
As a long-time church musician, I love being a part of a church band. But there is a time for concerts and a time for worship. If the voices are being drowned out, it's distracting and not very worshipful. If the songs are better suited for solos or in a difficult key for the congregation to follow, it's a concert not worship. The point in being the "worship leader" or the "worship team" is to invite others in to worship in song. If they are merely spectators, then it is not worship for them, even though it may be for those of us on the stage playing. I love having a good time with the other musicians, but if you're not drawing people in to worship, inviting them to be a part of what you're doing, you end up looking like the music club that's having fun but not helping others participate. It's a good idea for church musicians to be in the audience once in a while and see from a different perspective.

I've still got a few hundred more to be on the safe side.
