It Gets Better: Bob Jones Edition
Transcript available on Youtube. “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.” Bishop Desmond Tutu |

RE: It Gets Better: Bob Jones Edition
While I am sure it takes guts to come out of the closet in the IFB world and that God loves even the worst of the worst that humanity has to offer, it does not negate what Scripture clearly states about homosexuality.
"Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." |

Here we go again...
When I was in college, I tried some kool-aid, but I didn't like it, and I didn't swallow. |

I completely agree with you, Naomi. I simply hate the way this debate tends to play out on SFL. Here's to hoping this one is kind and loving.

Let's just focus on this question: Quote:How exactly should Christians who disagree on the interpretation of the Bible regarding gay relationships treat each other, and gay people? What does the love of Christ look like in a practical sense, even when you disagree and are not going to convince the other person to take your interpretation? I trust that we all care about each other enough to seriously think about how we can continue to interact lovingly despite our known disagreements. “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. We should treat people how they want to be treated...not how we think we would want to be treated and then apply it to them.

I do hold the conservative Christian viewpoint on this issue, but I do believe that I am required to be loving and gracious even toward those with whom I disagree. I guess the difficulty comes when it gets practical and personal. How does being loving actually work itself out in the real world? I think I'm supposed to care for someone: if they're in need, help them. Talk to them. Listen to them. Treat them with dignity as a valuable soul created and loved by God. "Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |

It applies to everyone we disagree with, and it's hard to figure out. Anyone got more ideas on how we accomplish that? “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.
