RE: Dating at Fundy U
Okay...why 7 p.m.? I assume due to darkness? But is the campus not reasonably well lit? And whether or not it is dark at 7 p.m. is going to be a seasonal matter...in winter, it's going to be dark earlier. So was it just a random rule?

Oh, no, of course it wasn't just a random rule. It was BJU, every rule has a perfectly logical reason. Right?
When I was in college, I tried some kool-aid, but I didn't like it, and I didn't swallow. |

Hyles Anderson- no touching, even if you were close. I really fgound a good girl but staff broke us up
My HAC pastor broke me and my fiance, almost fiance up. I said I am done with fundy dating for the most part because im 21 and am an adult and can make adult decisions. |

Maybe senior citizens on the administration board insisted that that's how EVERYONE behaved in 1920 or something. But, yeah, the walkways were fully lighted. It made no sense, unless it was just another way of controlling us and breaking our will. "Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan. |

What ticks me of is
I loved someone so much I knew what she was thinking and we just knew we were meant to be but the MANNAGAWWWWD decided I wasn't good enough and drove a wedge on purpose. I can't deal with it really, I don't even talk to the guy anymore and give him the cold shoulder but my give a **)*(-0 is broken and need a reason to care. |

It's my understanding that after 7, teachers had gone home and things were quieting down, so after that you could only be where there were "chaperones" to keep an eye on you. It seems really pointless to me, though. And why 2 adults couldn't walk along a well-lit walkway just blew my mind. We were treated like a bunch of children living in a neighborhood full of pedophiles. |

RE: Dating at Fundy U
Dating experiences..hm. I dated a boy who would not let me eat dinner or lunch with friends, and didn't like when I would go off campus with a bunch of my girl friends. He wanted me to just be with him, I guess. Looking back of course, what an idiot I was. At the time, though, the way I was raised somehow made me think that this type of behavior was okay.
He also always asked if I wanted to date someone else, for instance: "Oh, do you want to date him or something?" when he'd see me talking to another guy. Typical abusive sort of relationship. After a couple other Baptist boyfriends, I finally learned my lesson...or rather God said "Hey. Stop treating yourself this way." I married a non-denom dude. Best thing I ever did. Happiest marriage I've ever seen! He is never suspicious and I am not dirt under his feet--he was raised to totally not be that way. So in my experience, yay for non-Baptist dudes. |

RE: Dating at Fundy U
Overall, "dating" at college wasn't really dating. It was weird, uncomfortable, sterilized, and we were made to feel like 12-year-olds who couldn't make adult-level decisions (although, I did have bad picks for boyfriends, maybe there was something to it! haha). We had to walk separately after 7, could never even SHAKE hands, much less hold them, and I guess if you used the same stairwell as the opposite sex you could get pregnant.

It's about what'd you'd do when you stepped off the well-lit sidewalk into the shadows. My experience is that monkey business really can't be stopped. But they have to at least put up a good show of trying to stop it, or else they get marked as "liberal" and "having no standards." They're in a demanding market. |
