I work in an office and I get jealous when I see hospital workers in scrubs and sneakers looking all comfortable. Smile

Yeah... you're comfortable till you get pee, crap or vomit on you...

And this is why (though I work in a hospital) I'm glad that my job involves software not goopy stuff.

RE: Dress Code
This is kind of a funny one for me. Growing up, I hated coats, ties, belts, all that stuff fundy guys have to wear to be holy enough for church. After I escaped fundy-land, I wore a suit and tie only for weddings and funerals. Otherwise it was baggy jeans and a t-shirt a couple sizes too big, I literally did not care how I looked.

Now that I've transitioned, I'm very particular about my appearance. I like to dress well, it makes me feel even more positive about myself. I am often the only woman NOT in pants at my church on a Sunday morning, and I'm usually the most formally attired. When it's cold outside, I wear pants.

RE: Dress Code
PW, you have GOT to try wearing pants to church. It feels so wonderfully free and happy.

I wore my last skirt May 26, 2010. I don't even own any skirts now. I don't think they're wrong, but I was forced to wear them for years and years, and not only did I never agree that it was necessary to wear a skirt all the time, but I just. didn't. like. them.

Last week I went to church on Saturday night. I had been at work, and didn't have an opportunity to go home and change, which normally isn't a problem. However, last Saturday I was excited to wear my brand new "cute skull" t-shirt, accessorized, of course, with my coordinating shoes and socks. So I wore a cute skull shirt to church, too.

It's a sign of how un-Fundy my church is that no one batted an eye (this might have been different if I had gone Sunday morning when some of the older folks attend).

RE: Dress Code
I am a professional entertainer, so my attire is hardly fundy. I'm a White boy who shops with the Brothers. Then stuff gets covered with rhinestones. I recently went to church in a black snakeskin print suit and rhinestone encrusted tie. My wife wore a snow leopard print. I will have to wear it to my fundy relative's church sometime.

I've had nights like that. Tongue

RE: Dress Code
Since my workplace is sub-business casual, the bulk of my wardrobe consists of nice [that is, non-holey] jeans and polo or buttoned shirts (always long sleeved, which is my personal "standard"). This also overlaps largely with what I wear to church, though on Sunday evenings in summer, I frequently exchange the jeans for shorts. The only time I can be seen in a suit is when I'm at a wedding, which is usually because I'm running the sound system.
