I mean that sincerely.

I prayed for him tonight, sincerely.I hope the Lord brings him to repent as well.

Exhibit A

From the comment section below the news article on wmur's website:

"Sad. I personally believe he should only have been found guilty of having sex with a minor (which he had already plead guilty to). Tina's own mother said she was lying. Tina's testimony was weak in that she was caught playing it up for the jury and she herself admitted to not knowing for sure that she no. How can the jury be sure it was forcible rape when she doesn't know if she said no? Unfortunately I believe Tina was badly used by Jocelyn Zichterman to further Jocelyn's agenda."

I wonder if anybody from that church has had the decency to leave since this came out--or from Phelps' current church.

RE: Ernie Willis: Guilty
As I said in the comments on the blog, about the only thing I can think to say right now is... thank God. I mean that literally, not just as a phrase. Thank God that some justice has been found for Tina! I know the verdict is not going to magically make everything better, though--it's not going to change the attitudes of his defenders, it's not going to go back in time and make all of the terrible things that have happened to Tina disappear, and so on--so I'll definitely keep praying. Not just for Tina (although I'll certainly be doing that!), but that the eyes of his defenders may be opened that they can see the truth, that God will protect others from being victimized (not just sexually), and that the others who are out there in the same situation can have the courage and support to also step forward... and that they receive justice as well if they do so.

And I'll try to pray for Ernie Willis, that God leads him to realize the wrong he has done and that he repents. It's still hard for me to do that, but... I'm coming around. Heaven isn't an exclusive club, and I certainly don't get to choose who gets in. It's only by God's grace that I'm going there, anyway!

RE: Ernie Willis: Guilty
I'm trying to pray for the cold-hearted people who continue to criticize and attack Tina that God would replace their hearts of stone with hearts of flesh and give them His compassion for their self-righteousness. They are missing the most foundational truths of God's Word: to do justice - they've failed there, to love mercy - they've failed there, and to walk humbly with their God - they've failed there in their arrogant assumption that victims are lying or bitter or guilty. They think they love God with their whole hearts, but they fail to love their brother and 1 John tells us that we cannot love God if we do not love our brother. And the second commandment tells us to love our neighbor AS OURSELVES!!! Is this how they've viewed Tina, the way they would want themselves to be treated? Not at all. Thus they are bankrupt, morally corrupt, supporters of evil and accusers of the helpless. May God open their eyes. May God break their hearts.

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.

RE: Ernie Willis: Guilty
Justice was done today. I admire Tina and Jocelyn and others who have stood bravely to face their abusers. I pray that more have the courage to follow where these brave women have gone.

I am curiously awaiting the further fallout and spin for Phelps and Tina's mother. I truly hope that they are brought up on charges or a civil suit is filed.

And I pray...so very much that people still entangled in IFB will have their eyes and hearts opened and find freedom in the Christ they claim to follow.

I'm praying that both Chuck Phelps and Christine Leaf will be humbled before God and man and will repent of the part they played in this. And I pray the same for Jocelyn's abusers, too. I know there's been no independent confirmation of her brother's admissions; I pray that comes out so that Jocelyn can have justice and a measure of closure, too.

SharperIron keeps stating that they are unpublishing posts that have to do with "previous, unsubstantiated allegations" against Phelps. Anybody know what those are? Are they something similar to this case or about his integrity?

Probably more like "anything we perceive as negative, period."
