Heart Favorite Cookbooks
What cookbooks do you use constantly? Which ones changed your life (well, at least your kitchen)?

I'll start:

I cracked open the Mennonite cookbook More With Less when I had my first apartment and was learning to shop for food, plan meals, and cook dishes besides mac-n-cheese and canned soup. It introduced me to a new way of thinking about meat (using it sparingly for flavor instead of centering an entire meal around a giant slab of meat) and started me on the path toward vegetarianism.

I'm currently in love with Robin Robertson's Peanut Butter Planet, which is sadly out of print but available used on Amazon.com. Peanut butter soups, breads, desserts, even dog treats ... heaven.

I am a horrible cook. Confused So, I'll look at the suggestion that everyone has with much interest.

I love peanut butter. That book is going into my wish list for sure. Big Grin

My mom used that like the cooking Bible when we were growing up. With 7 mouths to feed it's easy to see why.

Smile RE: Favorite Cookbooks
The Fannie Farmer Boston Cooking School Book. I learned to cook out of it and it's pretty much my go-to for anytime I'm stuck on how to do something. I also have a few old cookbooks I got from my mom that I use if I'm looking for favorite recipes or ideas. You know the ones, spiral bound church and school fundraisers that all the best cooks contribute to.Smile

30 Day Gourmet's Big Book of Freezer Cooking...good stuff! I have discovered that I like cooking, just not every night. We've got a small chest freezer, so I figured we might as well use it! My freezer isn't full by any means, but I've discovered some great recipes. I suggest the honey bbq chicken bites.Smile

RE: Favorite Cookbooks
Would people be interested in a recipe thread? Or maybe we could sweet-talk Darrell into creating a Food/Recipes category in the Fun Stuff forum?

RE: Favorite Cookbooks
Taste of Home--both the cookbook and the magazine. A cousin's wife (well, it was supposedly from the whole family but we know who picked that gift out!) gave us the cookbook for a wedding present and it has a ton of great recipes. And the mag has good ones, too. My aunt just gave me an extra copy of the magazine "Simply Delicious" which comes from Taste of Home last week. I made one recipe from it Saturday and another one is in the crockpot now and there are two more I want to try--just in one issue.
