RE: Love Wins by Rob Bell
According to the scriptures, Hell is real, Hell is hot and Hell is for ever, it does not matter what Bell or any false prophet has to say about that. Listen to what Timothy has to say to the Rob Bell's of this world.
"For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine, instead, to suit their desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear, they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths." No burning, everlasting, fiery Hell is just one of the latest myths being tossed around lately. |

I mean I know of at least one guy who would say that Christ was using figurative language when he mentioned fire, but the guy still thinks hell is horrible. I am not one of those persons but I don't mind their view so much. we are all a little looney |

RE: Love Wins by Rob Bell
No I personally would not have a problem with anyone believing hell isn't hot, I would just refer them to the scriptures, let's see if Jesus thinks hell is hot.
In Mark 9:43-49 Jesus mentions the fires of hell three times, if it really doesn't matter much, why bother saying it three times. In Matthew 25:41 Jesus tells us that there is not only fire in hell, but that's its eternal. Matthew 13:42 Jesus is speaking of, and describing hell and says, "They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth - Note: This is Jesus' literal interpretatiion of the parable of the tares of the field after His diciples asked for its meaning. Matthew 13:47-50 "And shall cast them into the furnace of fire" - again, this is yet another parable from Jesus with its literal interpretation for unsaved sinners. I could go on and on, but Jesus says hell is hot, I'll take Him at His word. |

They just think he means fire in a figurative sense. I am sure there are things in Scripture you take in a figurative sense when you feel it is warranted. They do in this case. we are all a little looney |

RE: Love Wins by Rob Bell
When Pope John Paul died, someone asked me if I thought he went to heaven or hell, to which I replied, Where do you hope he went? Some people become quite upset to think that people they are sure are going to hell might end up in heaven. Quite a disappointing prospect for some, it would seem.
I haven't read Rob Bell's book, but I hope he is right. I have read The Great Divorce and appreciate Lewis' thoughtful allegory. I hope Lewis is right too. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us. |

Speaking about myths, remember that both hades and tartarus, which are usually translated hell in the NT, both come from Greek mythology. I'm just sayin'. Bell would just ask you a string of forty questions that begins with..."But when you say 'Love already won at Calvary' do you just mean that love won for only a few people who believe a very narrow set of things? And if someone doesn't believe everything exactly the way I do they don't get in? So Ghandi isn't in heaven? We know this?"...and at the end you'd be wondering "Bell, are you sure of anything?" Or that's kind of how I remember it. Someone else who read the book can tell me if that isn't the way it seemed to them. Though to try to be fair to Bell, there's only a chapter or two where he asks question after question. In his other chapters, he does sort of kind of answer questions about what he believes. we are all a little looney |
