Silly Fundies! The choices aren't "Smoking" or "Non-Smoking"; they are "Incense" or "Brimstone". Either way, Fundies will have to sit in the "Smoking" section for all eternity.

RE: "Appearance of evil"?
I was on another board where someone wanted to boycott a store because they supported gay pride. It then got silly because someone joked about wearing aluminum foil wedding rings because they found something objectionable about the jewelry industry.

you, the mirror of my life renewed,
let me find my life in you.~St. Augustine

A family member changed their gmail account to hotmail this weekend because Google supports teh gayz. I haven't bothered to send her the links about how Microsoft also supports teh gayz. Maybe I can convince her Juno is the only safe choice. Angel

I don't believe I've ever seen this issue bolied down to such a simple description before. That was beautiful.

"I've only recently started noticing that they were always concerned about stylish clothes being "worldly", but never seemed to think that the newest model of vehicle was worldly." ~ PW

In my jaded opinion, that is because trendy clothes are mostly a woman's fault, but trendy vehicles belong to the men. We know that men would never do anything worldly, right? Not like those sinful women. Wink

That may be true in some cases. In my opinion, it has more to do with "everyman's battle." Every Man at some level sees an attractive woman and she catches his eye. Whether he lusts or not is, I think, dependent on his relationship with Christ. And in my opinion, most fundy pastors have a very shallow version of Christian faith, if any at all, and they are trying to control all women so that their sons don't lust like they do. I think that lust is rampant in Fundy chuches and it does not surprise me when abuse occurs.

RE: "Appearance of evil"?
But the 10th commandment is about coveting not just another woman but also belongings. A man could "lust" after a new car. Fundies emphasize sexual purity and often overlook other types of inordinate desire.

I never heard a fundy preacher tell his congregation that the men should drive plain, middle-of-the-road cars lest they cause other people to fall into the sin of envy and greed wanting what they had if they were to drive an expensive or flashy vehicle. Why is a car driver not responsible for the responses of others when women were always responsible for men being attracted to them?

"Do not look so sad. We shall meet soon again.” “Please, Aslan,” said Lucy, “what do you call soon?” “I call all times soon,” said Aslan.

I don't know. Just my thoughts.
