T.N. is a complete idiot and douchewad and I'd take anything he says with a one pound box of kosher salt.

Some people get cool hallucinations that tell them to kill people. Mine just try to get me into trouble.

RE: it would have been best had the South won the Civil War
I knew Nugent was a big pro-gun rights guy, but I wasn't aware he had become a conservative spokesman. Oh, I guess he was given that title when he said something stupid.

No doubt that this statement will be construed as wishing that slavery still existed or some such rubbish, instead of taking the time to see what he meant by the statement. Federalism and states rights have taken a beating since the time of the Civil War. Presidents and Congress continue to try to treat issues on a Federal level instead of letting states deal with isssues their own way as the Tenth Amendment dictates. Providing national solutions for regional problems continues to drive a wedge between red and blue states.

But in this soundbite age, guess which part of his statement will be played over and over? It was a dumb thing to say, and should've been worded differently.

I doubt most conservatives could name the song "Wango Tango" in three notes (or three bars).

I think Nugent is more a conservative-allied libertarian, started out single issue - hunting/gun rights.

In a related development, John Rocker now has a political column at WND.

"Dumb animal" political spokespeople is nothing new. Hollywood has been churning them out for Democrats for decades.

I doubt that statement as much as I doubt Darrell's claim that there are large numbers of Southerners who wish the South had won the Civil War. Just because Darrell and the fundie lite crowd are still rocking to Creed, doesn't mean "most conservatives" aren't familiar with the Motor City Madman.

I'm a Christian conservative from Michigan who regularly follows politics, and I can honestly say that I know very little about Nugent other than his pro-hunting, pro gun rights stance.

Most conservatives I know are quite comfortable with what they believe and don't need validation for a celebrity to confirm our political stances.

I have no idea if Darrell likes "Creed". I doubt it.

I'm from Georgia, and live in Georgia. I live in the city now that I grew up in. It's the city where Larry Flynt was shot and paralyzed, where the KKK demonstrated on street corners when I was growing up in the 80's.

I've known history professors who still refer to the Civil War as "The War of Northern Aggression". I've known working class people, all my life, who lamented Southern loss of the war.

Now, attitudes have changed, as have demographics in my neck o' the woods. But it's not a far cry to figure out quite a few in Georgia, in the deep south, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas who think that the South had a morally and Constitutionally superior position in the mid-1800's succession from the Union.

To tell the truth, if racial slavery was not the overriding issue, I could be persuaded to the notion as well. In the big scheme of things, it's pretty useless, though.

RE: it would have been best had the South won the Civil War
If we get into a time capsule and travel back into time most people in the south were not interested in the government or slavery one way or another. The only thing they were interested in was doing what the rich white planters wanted them to do and the planters were a persuasive bunch. They were men in authority and they also threw out a bunch of Bible verses just to give themselves an air of added authority. The only thing they were interested in was preserving their way of life and the only way to do that was to separate from the Union. The small middle class and the poor white would have NOT benefited from it at all. It was a rich man's war but a poor man's fight. The Scots-Irish and the mountain people and assorted other thinking people recognized this early on and refused to side with them.

Yes its the party line of what was the southern radical liberal fringe of the day. Yes its a minority opinion in the region but they were my people.

you, the mirror of my life renewed,
let me find my life in you.~St. Augustine

I am conservative and I lived in Michigan for 7 years and I know little to nothing about Ted Nugent, except the the tune to "Stranglehold" from my druggie days in the 70's.

Maybe Darrel listens to Madison Rising or The Army You Have.

Unlike other conservatives, I don’t care if his vote to save Obamacare turns into a cash cow for the Mitt Romney’s presidential political machine and galvanizes the GOP. There are some things more important than politics and elections. Striking down un-American, Constitution-violating Obamacare is one of them.

Had Chief Justice Roberts voted along with Justice Clarence Thomas and Justice Antonin Scalia like everyone expected, Obamacare would have been struck down by the Supreme Court. That would have put even more wind in the sails of the Romney campaign.

The bottom line is that Chief Justice Roberts‘ traitor vote will ensure more monumental spending and wasted taxes and put almost 15 percent of the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP) under one of the world’s most bureaucratic, ineffective, incompetent and grossly expensive systems ever devised by man: our out-of- control federal government.

Chief Justice Roberts squandered the opportunity to restore judicial, financial and legislative sanity to a government that by any sane person’s standards is insane and addicted to centralized federal control of our lives.

Because our legislative, judicial and executive branches of government hold the 10th Amendment in contempt, I’m beginning to wonder if it would have been best had the South won the Civil War. Our Founding Fathers’ concept of limited government is dead...
