RE: Where are you from?
As far as fundamentalism in Australia goes - it is different, it has its own flavour.

You don't get people standing out on the streets with sandwich boards yelling abuse at people. They do believe in going soulwinning each week. They are KJVO. They have started to make noise that they shouldn't be teaching personal preferences from the pulpit, which is good - but they aren't going to apologise for being false teachers in the first place. They were against drums and ccm but some sectors of the group are actively trying to change that. Some women only wear skirts and dresses. Some wear pants (but not to church). They teach dumb things like cremation is sinful (have to be bodily buried) and Jesus turned water into grape juice, not wine. They don't need to learn biblical hebrew or greek because the KJV was perfectly translated, thank you very much (except when it says that Jesus turned water into wine).

They are very proud of the fact that they aren't like those weirdo IFB churches in America, so it's not appropriate to challenge them in any way.

But they are still very much - don't question your pastor, if you don't like his decision then he just has more information than you about something. Touch not the Lord's anointed!

It seems that abuse - physical, spiritual, emotional, sexual - is a problem in Aussie IFB churches as it is in America. And if you don't like how the pastor handles the issue - well he just knows more than you, amen?

As far as patriotism goes, we did get the whole "Thank God for America, because without America, we wouldn't have Independent Baptist churches in Australia!" crap.

Thanks, America. Thanks a lot -.-

RE: Where are you from?
Yeah, well I'm the only one from planet 541... Tongue
Seriously, I hope no one figures out where you live. I live in the sticks, actually and that map was a little scary to me because I'm not in LA, NYC, or Chicago.... and I don't really want people figuring out where I live either!

RE: Where are you from?
Ehh, I don't care if people know where I'm from.

I'm really surprised there were 13 visitors from Greensburg! That's scary! are there an exceptional amount of fundy churches around here or something?

I suspect think it was YOU 13 times. I think it logs every hit, even if from the same IP address.

When I was in college, I tried some kool-aid, but I didn't like it, and I didn't swallow.

RE: Where are you from?
That's probably it, except I know I haven't clicked on the page 13 times. Five or six maybe, but not 13! haha. Maybe it's glitchy, so it's logging my views twice? At any rate, we at least stumbled upon a solution for people who don't want there whereabouts to be figured out! Just click on the map multiple times so nobody knows you're the only one in your town! =P All I wanted to see was how many countries were represented here, anyway. So at least that aspect of the site ain't glitchy!

RE: Where are you from?
Why not post a google map where people can decide weather or not they want their EXACT location shown. I've posted elsewhere the general area where I live, but there's NO way I would post my exact location. I find it a bit creepy that you would come in here as a new poster and post a link that by simply clicking on it your location is known.

RE: Where are you from?
Sorry if I come across as creepy! *hides* It definitely wasn't my intention. It's just that every other forum I've ever been to has had a similar topic. This wasn't my first post or even my first topic that I started. How do I post a Google map?

Yep. I am from the US. Where are you from?
