IFB. I am not extremely familiar with "Lordship Salvation." However, I would hold to a 'Faith Alone' perspective. Am I right in my understanding of 'Lordship Salvation' that one is to 'submit' to Jesus' Lordship in order to be a genuine Christian? If I am understanding this correctly, I would simply respond to someone holding this view, 'How do you do that and how are you doing?' It is a noble idea to want to want to completely submit to Jesus Christ, but it underestimates our depravity and rebellious hearts. Instead, I would simply focus on something like this.... "Jesus, I am rebellious and I want to submit to you but I find that I don't. Please be with me, forgive me and continually crucify this rebellious heart of mine. Thank you that you love a rebel like me." I think that statement captures the reality of our sin, captures the idea of faith and avoids a possible legalistic tendency that could develop from this line of thought... Legalistic ideas such as, "Have you really submitted your whole self to Jesus? Are you really serious in your submission?" These kind of ideas put the emphasis on us and rob assurance.... and let's be serious, how much submission is good enough; in what ways do we need to submit; are we serious enough in our submission? This kind of thinking brings us back to a man-centered spirituality again.
