True Christianity
SFL on FB just posted a picture of someone giving a Bible to a Haitian person.
I just finished posting on FB about a fundraiser for a special needs adoption from Bulgaria for a 14 year old girl who weighs 14 lbs. Yes, you read that right. FOURTEEN pounds. Awhile back I mentioned to our new pastor the idea of a church food pantry for members who are in need, but too proud to ask for help. Our last (SBC) church had done something like this, and it was GREAT. He told me he would rather start a resource table with literature that would help Christians grow. I wanted to blow a gasket. I still do. My father died when I was 16. There were 4 of us kids still at home; my youngest brother was 6. Our pastor preached against insurance of any kind because it showed a lack of faith in God's provision. When my dad finally died from a horrible disease, I only recall the men from the church delivering ONE pick up truck load of firewood to our house. They pulled into the yard, chucked the wood out into a heap and left. My 11 year old (lazy) sister and I stacked it. My mom sent us all back to school the day after my dad died. I don't remember people at church even offering condolences. (Could be that I just don't remember.) What I'm saying is that you CANNOT call yourself a true Christian if your heart doesn't break over what breaks HIS heart. Pure religion and undefiled before God has NOTHING to do with what you wear, what Bible you carry or if you went soul-winning every weekend your whole life. I want to kick people like that in the HEAD and call them a STUPID FREAKING IDIOT. Ok. I've vented. |
