RE: old enough to die, too young to vote?
The information overload age has made many youth completely indifferent to social causes. The ones who aren't indifferent are a bit too naive for my taste.

RE: old enough to die, too young to vote?
Saw a piece on this earlier, minus the commentary, and was impressed with how douchey he is. I liked this last paragraph of the story linked in our OP:
Quote:Perhaps Mr. Goldberg should take it even further. If young people are too stupid to vote, aren’t they also too stupid to enter into a contract with a bank that will bury them under decades of student debt? Aren’t they also too stupid to give their lives for our never-ending quest for world and oil domination? At what age is a person smart enough to vote? Apparently it’s the age where idealism and altruism are supplanted by cynicism and greed. By that standard, even with the wisdom that has come with my middle-aged body and mind, I am still too young to vote. http://bluecollarjesus.net "You are now DR.redbeardiam." - Presbygirl Proud recipient of "the blessedhopebaptist badge of bitterness" |

RE: old enough to die, too young to vote?
Look at how many 20 somethings voted for a campaign that led with "hope and change?" Now, half of those college graduates can't find a job because UE is still high.
"More than half of America's recent college graduates are either unemployed or working in a job that doesn't require a bachelor's degree, the Associated Press reported this weekend. The story would seem to be more evidence that, regardless of your education, the wake of the Great Recession has been a terrible time to be young and hunting for work," http://www.theatlantic.com/business/arch...ow/256237/ I'd blame lazy parenting and public schools for this type of ignorance b/c Obama ran on fluff and he has no executive experience. The best presidents have been governors, NOT senators. Plus, Obama hasn't fixed a damn thing in the last four years and he's added SIX TRILLION dollars onto the debt. When I was 20, I knew how to vote b/c we were required to take a class on the Constitution and economics in my public school just to graduate high school. But I was also a child of the Reagan era and I think that's what made a big difference. I wasn't raised Fundy either so that wasn't an issue in deciding how to vote. I've also seen a real hunger the past three years where Americans have been studying the issues more deeply. There is a real desire out there for a smaller government that doesn't spend so much money on social programs THAT HAVE FAILED. |

RE: old enough to die, too young to vote?
Ask them.......should the government spend more then they take in?
How high is the current national debt? (It's currently at 16 trillion and I blame both parties for this) They really should see this link. Debt per person 50K. Debt per taxpayer 138K. http://www.usdebtclock.org/ The scarey one is our total unfunded liabilities including all of the social programs, medicare and social security is ONE HUNDRED ELEVEN TRILLION DOLLARS. |
