Christmas Songs...love or hate any?

RE: Christmas Songs...love or hate any?
Joining the Christmas Shoes hate. Blargh! Adding "Dominique the Donkey" to the hate list.

In no order of favorite...the Hallelujah Chorus. I still get chills. "All I Want for Christmas is You" by Mariah Carey. Its the official drop everything when you hear it and dance song of the season. I've been known to car dance to that one! BareNaked Ladies whole Christmas album is a favorite. "O Holy Night" Groban or Bocceli, I'm not picky. I'll stop here. I love Christmas music for the month or so that it's not weird to play it. Smile

The way it always was, is no longer good enough. You make me want to be brave. - Nichole Nordeman

Can't stand most pop xmas music. I really like well done choral music. I have on my netbook the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's version of Holy Night which I really enjoy.

Then again, I think the Russian Red Army Choir rocks so maybe I'm biased towards Choirs. Big Grin

Ok, I'm on a friends' laptop and I'm too lazy to work out copy/paste without a mouse. Yes, I'm pathetic. We know. Move on...

ANYWAY. Go to youtube and search for Straight No Chaser's songs '12 days of Christmas' and 'The Christmas Can-Can'. Funny.

I am working in retail this Christmas season. I hear Christmas music all day- therefore I do not enjoy any of it for the time being. My retail job is temporary so hopefully this will all Chang because I used to love Christmas music.

Heart Jesu Bambino
Heart The Holly and the Ivy
Heart I heard the Bells on Christmas Day-Casting Crowns
Heart Just about anything traditional SUNG traditional with no modern trappings or 'interpretations'.

Heart Snoopy and the Red Baron

Dodgy Just about any pop Christmas 'love song'.
Dodgy any schmaltzy pop that is meant to tear at your heartstrings. I usually end up gagging.

New favorite-Blue Christmas as sung by Damian McGinty of Glee. Glee covers are normally 'bleah' with a few exceptions but this one is very pretty.

O Beauty ever ancient, O Beauty ever new;
you, the mirror of my life renewed,
let me find my life in you.~St. Augustine

Same here on the love. I also love Wizards in Winter by Trans Siberian Orchestra which gets turned VERY loud in the car.

Hate: ANYTHING by the Carpenters. Her voice makes my skin crawl. And any one of those Christmas songs where the world is ending, people are dying, and we're supposed to be sad for people not knowing its Christmas in a country where they've never celebrated Christmas because its not in their culture and/or religion.

Back on the love note.... Love. This. Video.

Oh, and yes, I hate the Christmas Shoes, too. It falls into the "people dying" category.
