Proof the guy is a complete crock. McC will vouch for me on this: I have as many pairs of crazy socks as any person can get, and I will always take more. Hand-knit, fuzzy, thick, slipper, crazy designs... and I can't think of a single reason ANY pair of socks should be starched.

This jerk must come up with busy work for his wife. Ugh.
