My bosses idea of ensuring that we can support various environments with our application is to leave the 2-3 developers on that application on different environments. So I'm the lucky one with the Win XP SP3, 2.13 Ghz, 2.00 RAM tower (yes, tower) to play with. The fact that the other developer doesn't have a problem with this concept should also clue you in on my world. I made the mistake of suggesting that we should consider laptops and a development server that we can create a host of virtual PCs and Servers as needed. THe reply... "Oh, yeah, we tried to install <the development tool> on a virtual PC once and it didn't work." Essentially, no matter how stupid the implementation person might be, if the attempt failed, it is obviously not possible; that is the ONLY legitimate conclusion. Suffice it to say, some days I envy Dilbert's job. "(1) Paul, Wikipedia expert, 06.10.2011" - Shoes Paul 4 Prez |

They quote Glenn Beck the Bible-Believing Baptist Christian who just sticks with the "Mormon" label so he won't cause trouble with his wife, who actually is a Mormon. Or something like that. Yes, I really have heard that, from more than one person. |
