Mother's Day - laurat99 - 05-11-2012 10:57 AM So, what are you doing to honor your mom/wife on Mother's Day this year? If you don't have a great relationship with your Mom, what do you do? Also, please remember to be kind to those ladies who are NOT mothers on Sunday. Before I had kids, it was a nightmare day at church; if you weren't a mom, then you weren't worthy. There are lots of reasons for not being a "traditional" mom, and some women are ok with it, while others silently greive inside. RE: Mother's Day - co_heir - 05-11-2012 11:07 AM My mom has passed on. Our son is getting married on Sunday, so I'll probably take my wife out for lunch and then shopping on Monday. I will give her a card Sunday morning.
RE: Mother's Day - WifeofBill - 05-11-2012 11:13 AM I thought it was next week. Hoping to go shopping, but no idea what to get. Last year I got her an orchid that has had a bloom on it everyday since. Thought about a blue orchid since I can see the nursery from my house, but the up charge is huge on those. RE: Mother's Day - Tikatu - 05-11-2012 12:38 PM Already sent identical cards to mom and MIL. I'll probably call, too. Since both of them live 100s of miles away, that's about it. RE: Mother's Day - Mommy2Kids - 05-11-2012 01:37 PM If it weren't for my own 2 kids, I'd stay in bed on Mother's Day. I put on a church face and try to survive the day.
RE: Mother's Day - notdrinkingthekoolaid - 05-11-2012 01:47 PM I have a hard time with Mother's Day. My husband and kids do a great job of making me feel special, so that's not the part that's hard. My MIL passed away a few years ago and FIL has remarried, but his wife doesn't fit a motherly role, though she is a wonderful woman. The problem is with my mom. Mushy lovey cards just don't fit. I wish there was a card that said "Have a day". That would be about right. *sigh. Seriously, just some black type on a white background would work for me. lol RE: Mother's Day - Mommy2Kids - 05-11-2012 02:40 PM I saw a snarky card online - it said: I'm awesome. You're welcome. Happy Mother's Day to the luckiest mom!
RE: Mother's Day - Derek - 05-11-2012 03:24 PM I have it easy as I can just call and wish my mom a happy mothers day. My wife though has to do something or her mom gets mad. It is also our anniversary so we will be going out on Monday. |
