Voice of the Martyrs Director May Have Committed Suicide Over Sex Abuse Probe - clp28 - 04-24-2012 06:04 PM Maybe not technically a fundy...but if this is true he was sure acting like some of the perverts we're familiar with. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/24/tom-white-voice-of-martyrs_n_1448951.html?ref=religion RE: Voice of the Martyrs Director May Have Committed Suicide Over Sex Abuse Probe - Bob M - 04-24-2012 06:12 PM (04-24-2012 06:04 PM)clp28 Wrote: Maybe not technically a fundy...but if this is true he was sure acting like some of the perverts we're familiar with. Yeah, they're not fundys. They were started by an evangelical Lutheran, Richard Wurmbrandt. He seemed to be a genuinely humble, godly man. He was tortured numerous times in communist prisons. Tom White, it seems, from the report, admitted that the accusations had some merit. Any religious leadership involved in abuse needs exposed, in my opinion. And there's no doubt that he cared about VOM," the statement said. "We are deeply saddened by these events. Our hearts are broken." Pardon me while I puke. How could he claim to love his wife and kids while he caused this huge mess to fall on them and then buggered off and left them to deal with it alone? And where is the outrage and the compassion to the little girl he is alleged to have molested? Are their hearts broken for her? Bastards. RE: Voice of the Martyrs Director May Have Committed Suicide Over Sex Abuse Probe - pastor's wife - 04-24-2012 10:05 PM I was so saddened when I heard this. Is there a possibility that the allegations aren't true? I wish it could be so, because the work they do in pointing out the vicious and deadly attacks on Christians around the world is important. And certainly Satan would want Voice of the Martyrs discredited. But why would an innocent man kill himself? Yes, it's embarrassing, traumatic, and painful to face accusations, but you trust the sovereignty of God and submit yourself with grace and humility, trusting God to bring the truth to light. Sadly, to me, the fact that he killed himself adds to the weight of the accusation. It's hard to keep thinking he's an innocent man if he made this choice. The conspirator in me wonders if there's any question of it being a suicide. Wouldn't someone who hated him and his work want to utterly and totally discredit and destroy him and wouldn't this be an utterly effective way to do it. But then the reasonable side of me thinks, "That's the stuff of movies and spy novels, not real life." I was very disappointed with the response of VotM and wish they could have worded their praise of him in such a way that it said, "He always APPEARED to love his family" or "He had a reputation of ...". I can't imagine what those involved with the ministry are thinking right now. I'm sure they're shocked and heartbroken, but for them not to mention at all the victim? I don't know why PR departments in Christian ministries aren't more savvy about this sort of thing and how callous it makes them appear when they don't show concern for the accuser and only defend the accused. Stories like this make me long for Christ's return. How I want Him to end abuse and pedophilia and religious hypocrisy. How I long for truth and love and righteousness to reign. |
