He WASN'T sent to the Land of Perpetual Tickling??????

I DIDN'T KNOW THAT!!!!

MY whole life has been based on a lie!!!!

I don't know who I am!!!!!

I'm going to spiral out of control and listen to The Beatles, pierce my nose and drink craploads of wine coolers!!

Oh wait, I already pierced my nose.

What a jackass.

My cousin's idiot wife won't let her kids watch Veggie tales because she's afraid they would think the biblical characters were actually talking vegetables.

I sort of want to tell her that she doesn't have to worry since her kids seem to be much smarter than her already.

Wow.

That's a new kind of stupid.

This woman makes my sister-in-law seem sane. Seriously. And she is dumber than a box of rocks to boot.

RE: Anti-Veggie Tales Guy - pastor's wife - 04-08-2012 02:18 PM

I know several people who quibble over details in Veggie Tales.

On the other hand, my husband and I are now out in the community, dealing with neglected children and homeless families and people with substance abuse problems. If the folks upset over Veggie Tales would stop isolating themselves from the world, they might find a lot more things to get upset about besides a kids' TV show based on Bible stories.

I just don't have the energy anymore to get all righteously indignant at all the things that keep upsetting the fundies. To use an overused metaphor, we're on a slowly sinking ship and some of us are manning the lifeboats and others are trying to pump out the water and repair the ship while the fundies are hanging out in the lounge arguing about the color of the furniture.

I left him a little comment. Undecided

I liked your comment, mommy2kids.

However, the other comments were enough to make me raise my eyebrows. One was from someone who hated the Bible and another was from someone who hated the creators of Veggie Tales: "Shame on the creator of these wicked videos, he will be on a shishkabob with bob the tomato and larry boy in hell."
Confused

I'm a big fan of the Veggies. In my opinion, they are the lone good example of Christian movie making. Their stories are entertaining and well put together and when they first started, they were pushing the envelope for Computer generated animation.

I own Phil Visscher's (aka Bob's) autobiography and developed a greater respect for his vision. While Bible story characters ARE depicted as vegetables, Jesus or God NEVER were. He determined that wiuld be the standard very early on because he didn't want the negative connotation of Jesus being "a vegetable"--weak and powerless. The Easter story is told in their Easter Carol movie in an beautiful montage of stained glass windows. Jesus is depicted in them--in human form. I respect what they did for Bible storytelling...or maybe I will always just have a soft spot for Bob and Larry and the gang.
