Are there any LCMS Lutherans on this board? Any "Lifers"? I'd like to ask a few questions and thought it's worth a shot. The only reason I can think one might be on here is nerdy curiosity but going to take a chance. Thanks.

My kids went to a LCMS school. My oldest graduated from 8th grade there.

What made you choose the schools? Did you do doctrinal clean-up if you are not a Lutheran?

If you have written an intro in the meet and greet I haven't read it but I'll go look.

I attended a Lutheran catechism class in college taught by a very conservative LCMS pastor and almost converted. Does that count?

I sent my kids to Lutheran schools when I lived in AZ. They were close to what I believed spiritually speaking, were excellent academically, and not "crazy" like the Christian schools in our area. When spiritual differences came up, I saw it as a great opportunity to teach my kids to listen to all points of view and search the scriptures for God's truth. I also saw it as an opportunity to teach my kids that we could interpret things differently and still worship, love, and serve the same Lord.

After spending my childhood in a variety of non-denominational Evangelical churches, my family joined an absolutely dreadful, incredibly conservative, yet morally decrepit IFB church. I left there in the middle of my senior year of high school, and did a lot of thinking and reading on my own.

This year, when I began my studies at Wheaton College, I providentially found with an absolutely wonderful, liturgical, serious LCMS church in the neighborhood. I have completed the Catechumenate, and God willing, I'll soon become a member at Easter Vigil. I am thankful to God for leading me to a place where His goodness and His love is so apparent. I see now that all the grace, strength, forgiveness, and love I was searching for during "altar calls" in the Baptist church is readily available at this altar, in the holy gifts of Christ's Body and Blood. Praise be to God.
