There were a lot of preachers in the south around the middle of the 19th century making similar statements.

Oh, to state my opinion on the OP (since I've avoided this thread like the plague til now) I believe that since marriage laws have traditionally been the province of the states, each state sbould have the right to decide this for itself. Although i'd kinda like to see the feds recognize unions (for taxes, etc.) on the basis of the laws of that state.

Naw...I was looking for pictures and had the reply window open and you posted before I hit post.

That would be acceptable to me as long as other states recognize those marriages and unions just like they do for hetero unions.

Mississippi held out on integration until 1970.
There are still schools holding segregated proms in the deep south.

Is this also part of "True Christianity?"

I'm sure they were "holding out" for what was "right" also.
